[Matilda]
My heart was pounding in my chest, the ache so sharp that it hurt with every beat. Tears streamed down my face, but all I could see was darkness. I was too weak to move
Taking a slow deep breath I slowly opened my eyes, but quickly shut them as the blinding light hit my orbs
"Ouch!" I winced in pain as a loud headache exploded in my temples as if a thousand knives had been stabbed into my brain all at once. Taking another deep breath, I opened my eyes again, trying to take in the environment I was in. My eyes darted around, and within a few minutes, I recognized the room. One of my guest bedrooms
"What am I doing here?" My brows creased together as I attempted to stand up, only to halt as the door opened revealing my husband's private doctor
"Mrs. Donovan you're awake!" The doctor said softly, taking steady steps towards me, making my brows furrow even more. What is he doing here?
I watched in silence as he walked toward me, his hand moving over to my forehead as if checking my temperatures
"Is everything okay?" I asked him, watching as he took a step back. I immediately froze as the puzzles began to put themselves together.
"Mr Donovan called and told me you passed out!" the doctor explained
"Where's my husband?" I stuttered as I stared at the doctor, recalling what Kaden said to me before I passed out, I fucking hope he was kidding. He can't be serious with everything he was saying
"He was here before I arrived, but he left as soon as I walked in," I furrowed my brow, rubbing my sore temples.
"Kaden was with me before you arrived?" I asked again, and he nodded.
"Yes he was, and I should inform him that you're awake now because he was quite worried!" The doctor's words added to the confusion that obscured my features. The Kaden I knew would never be worried about me, that was impossible.
"Hmm...how long did I pass out for?" I asked him, and he stared at his wristwatch.
"I have only been here for an hour, and I think you should relax a little, your blood samples have been sent to the lab, and the results should be ready by tomorrow..." I pushed myself out of bed before he could finish his statement, completely ignoring his words.
"Don't worry, I'm fine, you can leave, I need to see my husband!" I smiled softly.
The only words that rang in my ear were that Kaden was worried about me.
I dashed out of the room, heading straight for the hallway that led to the sitting room. My legs froze when I spotted Loretta lounging on the couch, her phone pressed to her ear as a loud obnoxious laughter spilled out of her. Gritting my teeth, I ignored her as my eyes scanned the entire space, but my husband was nowhere near there
I took a deep breath and made my way towards the staircase
Was Kaden serious about everything I heard him say? My heart pounded harder with every step I took, the searing pain in my head growing stronger
The doctor said he was worried about me when I passed out. Did he realize that what he did might have gotten me worked up? Was he feeling bad about it? I took a deep breath as I made my way to our room, only to pause at the sound that was booming out of our matrimonial bedroom
