Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1001

Milton's face lit up with joy as he thought about it. He felt that it was a blessing in disguise!

In Amelia's eyes, his smirk made her think that he had gone mad due to his loss of such a valuable item.

"Hey... Are you okay?"

She waved her arms in front of Milton's eyes and tried to pull his wandering soul back into him.

Milton grabbed her hand and said sadly, "Amelia, take it! Look at it. It's already broken. If I give it to someone else, they will think it's a second-hand item and think that I'm humiliating them!"

Amelia could not stand him any longer. Besides, the bracelet had turned out to be like this because of her, too.

Seeing that it had become so "unworthy", Amelia decided, "Fine, I'll take it."

Milton's eyes lit up immediately, but Amelia put on a serious face and said, "This is the first and the last time I'll accept such a gift from you. If there's a second time, I would smash it myself!"

"No problem!" Milton answered with pleasure but he did not take it seriously. Instead, he thought to

himself, "Next time? We'll talk about it then!"

After pausing, Milton said enthusiastically to Amelia, "Give me your hand and I'll help you put it on."

Upon hearing that, Amelia became a little hesitant as she took a quick glance at the bracelet.

Due to her hesitation, Milton laughed lightly and teased, "Are you looking down on it because it's broken?"

Amelia frowned. "No! If that's the case, I wouldn't have accepted it when it's broken."

"What is the matter then? Are you afraid that it will hurt?"

A thought popped into Milton's mind. He knew that before women put on their bracelets, they usually apply moisturizers on their hands to make it easier for them to put them on. He was afraid that he might really hurt Amelia if he were to force the bracelet onto her wrist.

"It's not like that." Amelia said bluntly, "Milton, I'm married. I don't think it's appropriate for me to wear any accessories given by other men."

Milton was shocked for a second and he asked in a faint tone, "From my point of view, you're afraid that it will cause a conflict between me and your husband, aren't you?" "I..." Milton was exactly on point. For a moment,

Amelia was speechless.

He thought that Milton was going to put on the cry-and-hang-himself show. Unexpectedly, he said, "I know your husband is narrow-minded. If he sees you wearing a bracelet on your wrist, he would definitely burst into anger.

In his eyes, he would not believe it even if you say this is just an ordinary accessory that was gifted by a friend.

Besides, I'm not much better than him. Even if I'm in front of Patrick, I still hope you can tell him that it's a gift from me.

But if you say this, I'm afraid you won't be able to escape from misfortune. How about this, promise me that you'll keep this bracelet well. No matter where you go, take it with you so that I can stop worrying. Is that a deal?"

Amelia felt that what she held back all these times were spoken out by Milton.

She took a deep breath and whispered, "Milton, you're really my best friend. Thank you!"

Upon hearing this, Milton's eyes darkened.

Amelia had been emphasizing the word "best friend" all the time. She was constantly reminding him not to have any other misunderstanding regarding their relationship except for just being friends.

Milton's eyes darkened and he said carelessly. "Maryanne is spending her time with her friends in England, so she doesn't want to come back with me."

"No way?" Amelia thought for a moment. "Northville is her home! Her parents and brother are here. How

can she not miss them?"

Milton narrowed his eyes and his tone dropped. "I'm not her. How do I know what she is up to every day?"

Amelia asked doubtfully, "What's wrong with you? Why are you being so dead serious?"

"Nothing." Milton answered calmly, "The weather is so hot. Take me to your company, please. I need the air conditioner!"

"Oh, sure!"

As soon as Amelia turned around to lead the way, Milton looked at her in a frazzled manner.

He could not tell her that he had known about Maryanne pushing her down the stairs for a long time and that he was with Maryanne because he wanted to take revenge on her. Therefore, there was no need for her to care for Maryanne at all.

What he did not say was that the reason why Maryanne stayed in England was because she was receiving treatments in the hospital, so he took this opportunity to come back to Northville.

In the black car, Patrick watched as Amelia and Milton walked out of Amido Cafe and disappeared through the door leading to Apex Construction Corporation. The look of loneliness on his face at this moment was ineffable.

The secretary stared at him eagerly with a seafood bento in her hand. This was the best meal she could get.

"Mr. Hopper, it looks likes Madam Ramsay had left the cafe. Is it time for you to take your lunch yet?"
