Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1095

If Patrick were to meet Sissi the coming Saturday, in other words, this meant that he was not going to visit Granny Hopper.

Despite remaining expressionless, Amelia murmured irritably, "So you have no other choice but to sacrifice my time now."

Patrick who did not get to pick up her words immediately asked, "What did you say?"

Amelia replied absent-mindedly, "There's nothing.

Eat first and I'll get back to you on this later."

Patrick nodded. In the next second, something came to his mind and he abruptly asked, "By the way, there's one thing that I need to ask you."

Gritting her teeth in great annoyance, Amelia put down her cutlery and asked irritably, "What's the matter?"

"Tell me honestly what had you told my secretary the other day? Why did I find numerous bottles of strange medicines on my office table today?"

"What were they in specific?"

"Some for dermatophytosis and also ulcers."

Amelia's eyes flickered yet she sounded innocent as she replied, "Uh? I told your secretary nothing else but your neck pain."

"Are you sure?" The smile at the corner of his lips had not reached his eyes. Apparently, he was not convinced by her reply.

Amelia immediately put the blame on him as she added, "Who knows you're indeed contracted with some unspeakable disease and this piece of information is further leaked to your workers. That's why they bring you the medicine to express their concern. Don't you think?"

With a crooked smile on his face, Patrick muttered, "You're the one who sleeps next to me every day. There's no other person who can know me better than you do."

"Watch your mouth. I'm not close with you at all." Amelia hurriedly swallowed a mouthful of food before she said, "I'm done with my meal. If you can excuse me, I'm going to wash my dishes now. Enjoy your meal."

Upon staring at the back of Amelia, who might as well be described as fleeing from the scene, Patrick could be certain of two things. Firstly, Amelia was the one who made up the rumor. Secondly, his secretary was the culprit who spread the rumors in the company.

However, there was no way for him to punish these two women in his life.

After all, one of them was his wife while the other one was his assistant that he entrusted with his work. Therefore, he always found himself ready to forgive their mistakes regardless.

After washing dishes, Amelia returned to her bedroom in order to avoid any contact with Patrick. She then made a call to the Sawyer's.

It was Simon who answered her call.

Upon hearing the dilemma that Amelia was currently dealt with, Simon promised that he would convey her message to Sawyer. Meanwhile, he also reminded her that there was no guarantee that Sawyer was going to make amendment to the time they had initially agreed.

Amelia said politely, "I shall thank you beforehand for your kind effort. I'll wait for your call."

Approximately fifteen minutes later, there was a returning call from Simon. However, to her disappointment, it was a bad news that he had for her.

"Ms. Amelia, I'm regret to inform you that Mr. Quartley had made it clear that he will not entertain anyone who stands him up. Um..."

Amelia heaved a sigh before she said, "Got it. Please let Mr. Sawyer know that I'll be there sharp on time on Sunday."

After ending the call, she opened her room door and came to the study room where she found Patrick inside. She then said, "I'm not free on Sunday. I have no other choice but to let granny down."

Patrick was in the midst of reading the unread emails which he had failed to attend to for the past two days. Upon hearing her words, he immediately glanced up from the screen of his desktop.

Holding a cigarette in between his lips, he stated as a matter of fact, "This is already the second week straight that you claim that you're caught up."

Leaning next to the door, Amelia stared at him and said, "Why did you find it perplexing? Isn't this weekend going to be your second week which you're away from home?"

Upon hearing her reply, Patrick could not help but take over the cigarette that he was holding all this while between his lips. He questioned irritably, "Is an eye for an eye your way of venting your anger to me?"

Amelia denied, "No, I'm not that free to do that. I'm seriously caught up on this coming Sunday."

Amelia's pace came to a halt as soon as she heard his question. She then turned around and look at him in the eyes.

Her crystal clear eyes seemed to suggest that she had nothing to hide. However, Patrick could not help feeling that she was hard to read.

"She threw the question back at him, "Which aspect in particular that you're referring to?"

He said, "In every aspects."

She could not help wondering if she was full of lies in Patrick's eyes.

Sneering, she asked again, "He who asserts must prove. Do you have any proof then?"

He admitted, "I don't have any proof, but I always trust my instinct."

Upon hearing this, Amelia could not help breaking into a laughter, "You don't count instinct as a valid proof."

Patrick added, "There's one more thing, you had never turned granny down before. That's why it gets my attention when you acted differently tonight."

Amelia managed to keep her tone calm as she replied, "What I can tell you is that there's nothing which against anything fundamental that I've been keeping from you. Are you satisfied with my answer?"

Upon seeing that Amelia had reached out to close the door, Patrick immediately said, "By the way..."

With her hand pausing, Amelia asked irritably, "Aren't you done yet?"

"I'm not going to keep you any longer." Patrick replied gradually, "I hadn't been accompany you to visit dad for the past two days. I just want to express my apology."

Amelia startled awhile before she sneered, "I almost forget this too had you omitted it."

After all, the fact that Patrick sprained his neck seemed to distract her to an extent that she had been ignorant on other matters. The realization of this made her feel alarming.
