Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1096

Upon collecting herself from a heavy heart, Amelia closed the door and left.

Patrick's gaze darkened at her leaving. He thought of going after her but changed his mind in fear that all they had were arguments.

Upon returning to her room, Amelia reached out to her phone and dialed the contact number of The Hopper Mansion.

She had been secretly praying that Eve would not be the one who was going to pick up the call.

However, the reality always went exactly as opposed of her wish.

As soon as she heard Eve's voice coming from the other end of the call, Amelia was driven by an impulse to hang up the call right away!

"Ah! Is today the end of the world? Otherwise, you won't ever call and greet me, would you?"

Amelia was aware that Eve was able to tell from the caller ID shown on the phone at The Hopper Mansion that it was she who was calling. Hence. Eve was directing her sarcasm against her.

Amelia cleared her throat before she asked, "May I know if granny's home now?"

In fact, she found it difficult to address Eve as 'mom'.

Eve did not answer her question. Instead, she asked, "What did you call me?"

"I didn't..." call you anything.

However, she managed to digest her emotions and rephrased her question unwillingly, "Mom, may I know if granny's home now?"

It seemed like she had overlooked the fact that Eve was good at manipulation!

Eve sneered, "It seems like you haven't forgotten that I'm your 'mom'. I thought that you had forgotten your place after Patrick sided you on the other day. I should remind you that you're no one but someone who's fortunate enough to marry Hopper."

Amelia was not triggered by her provocations. Instead, she teased her back, "Of course I know that I don't belong to The Hopper Family, but I never consider my marriage as pure luck of mine since I know my worth. The person who said so must be a pity for herself. She must have been thinking herself this way to ever come out with such words."

In her high-pitched voice, Eve exclaimed, "Amelia!

You don't have to play with words if you were to disrespect me!"

Amelia could not help sneering secretly. After all, she did not agree with Eve. Instead, she had made her points from her counter argument.

Amelia had to admit that she had never despised of anyone the way she did towards Eve. Not only was she cunning and calculative, she was probably mad too. Amelia thought that it would be better for her not to ravel herself with her unsound mind.

"Mom, I have something urgent that need to speak to granny right away. Is she there?"

Eve roared, "Your granny is not here! It's the same whether you speak to her or not. You can still tell me anyway!"

Amelia could not help frowning upon being roasted by Eve. She could only regard herself as being unfortunate enough to be forced to deal with a psycho.

"Since granny is not there, I'll make another call next time. That's all, mom. I'll hang up first."

Eve was not planning to let her get away, "Amelia! I've not done talking to you! I dare you to hang up the call! Do you really think I won't let Patrick divorce you..."

Amelia hesitated for some time before she brought herself to hang up the phone eventually.

She threw her phone onto the table right after. Just as she was about to leave for a shower, she heard her phone ringing at this time.

She turned around and peeked at the screen just to realize that it was Eve who was calling.

Feeling extremely annoyed, not only did she not pick up her phone, she headed towards the bathroom without turning back. She felt as if she had just restored her inner peace as soon as she closed the bathroom door behind her.

Half an hour later.

Wrapping herself in a bathing robe, Amelia heard the phone was ringing still when she stepped out of the bathroom.

She walked over to the table and took a look at her phone which was already heating itself.

With his phone in hand, Patrick cut straight to the point, "What had you told mom?!"

His words seemed to catch her by surprise. Before she could process his words, she stammered, "What do you mean?"

Patrick took a few steps forward. Amelia had no other choice but to step back until she had her back against the wall. He continued to interrogate her, "Mom was sobbing when she called me just now. I can tell that she was very unstable. You did provoke her, didn't you?"

The only message she got from his words was that Eve had made a complaint to Patrick!

Right this moment, he was here to question her before he even got his mind clear with what was ongoing between her and Eve.

"Why must I provoke her? Do you really think that I got nothing better to do?" Amelia sneered before she reached out to push him in attempt to shove him away.

However, Patrick did not seem wanting to let her get away this time. He grabbed her wrist and asked furiously, "You're thinking that we are going to sign up for a divorce anyway, that's why you're doing whatever as you please now, aren't you? You even start disrespecting the elders now! I'm told that you did not pick up any single call from mom even if she had been calling you for the past one hour! Do you really despise her this much?"

Amelia contended, "Why don't you ask your mom what had happened exactly and how did she treat me? I made one call to the Hopper Mansion in order to speak to Granny. The last thing I would have expected from the call was the sarcasm from your mom.

I did nothing but retort to her for once! Bear in mind that it was only once that she began to lose her temper. Not wanting to argue with her, that was why I decided to hang up the call. That was when all the dramas began. She started spamming me calls for one hour long. I have to make myself clear again. I have done nothing wrong!"

Upon hearing her explanation, the anger in his eyes seemingly receded a little.

Apparently, Eve had told a totally differently version of story to him before he came right to question Amelia.

However, he still thought that Amelia was not entirely blameless.

"Even if you're speaking of the truth, you shouldn't ignore her call for one hour long. After all, she's your elder whom you should respect!"

"If you know that it's the ticking bomb which is placed right in front of you, will you still reach out to take it over?"

Upon hearing her metaphor, Patrick could not help massaging his nose bridge in frustration before he said, "You don't have to think of it this way. You can always look for me if you can't solve the conflict."

"You?" Amelia threw a glance at the door that was being kicked open before she said sarcastically, "Judging from how you broke into my room irrespective my consent, it will be no different than digging my own grave if I were to look up for your help. I'm well aware that you always obey to your Mom regardless. Hence, I'm sure that you're not going to be kind towards me just like what you are doing all this while."
