Kaiden's lips parted as he muttered, "So this is the very reason you called me here. You want to know Wayion's secret from me."
Amelia could not help but think that he was someone sensitive and alert.
Amelia explained, "Don't get me wrong. It seems to me that you are an acquaintance of Wayion long before I ever knew him. That's why I would be glad if you call tell me more of this person."
Kaiden was toying with the display item on Amelia's desk as he said indifferently, "What does it make any difference now even if you know more about him? As long as Apex Construction can't come out with a design, the government is not going to grant us the fund. Having in mind the current financial status of Apex Construction, Wayion is your only way out of the current difficulty."
"Well, it's hard to say. You must not forget that there are a lot of suppliers in Northville."
"But isn't it true that there's this person who is bulk buying the building materials in Northville these days? How are you going to get the remaining supply if that person was to monopolize the market?"
Squinting, Amelia replied disdainfully, "When were you last paid attention to the news? That person who had been bulking purchasing the building materials in Northville is now facing with his karma. Didn't you see that he had been apologizing on the TV screen for what he had done for the past two days?"
"What?!" The item that Kaiden was toying with his hand all this while abruptly fell onto his foot.
Moaning in pain, he could not help but exclaim, "Are you sure that Kingston is the culprit behind this monopolization move?"
"Well, Apex Construction Corporation and his company are competing rivals all this while. That was also why he had been using dirty tricks to defeat us. Even so, we should be grateful that this is already something of the past that we should move on from..."
Upon massaging his head where the item had hit on, Kaiden said, "Even if Kingston will no longer continue his bulk purchase, that does not mean that he is going to release the stocks he had previously purchased. If I were him, surely I am now holding a grudge against you. I'd rather keep all the building materials in my warehouse even if I'm not going to use them than taking them all out which will only benefit Apex Construction Corporation.
Therefore, I'm sure that the demand of building materials in Northville is still more than actual supply for now. You're going to pay a hell lot of money for it! It'd be better if you listen to me and come into contract with Wayion. I can assure you that you're not going to get cheated or lose money."
"You do trust him, don't you?"
"No, I don't trust him. What I trust is..." Pausing, Kaiden flashed her with a crooked smile before he continued, "Why must I tell you?"
"If you're not going to tell me, then I won't sign the agreement with Wayion."
Staring at her delicate yet serious face, Kaiden could not help frowning, "You're such a stubborn person! You know it's for your own good..."
But it was also this stubbornness that clearly contradicted the delicate outlook that triggered the desire of others to protect her.
Kaiden finally spoke again after a long pause, "There's nothing wrong with Wayion. As for the agreement brought by him, I can assure you the same. That's all I can tell you. It's up to you to trust my words or not."
Leaning against the back of the chair, Amelia replied affirmatively, "I trust your words."
Kaiden scoffed, "You're the only who said that you don't trust him earlier!"
"You're right. I don't trust him. However, I trust you. I have not forgotten the fact that you've saved Apex Construction from a disaster. Based on this point, you have already earned my trust."
Kaiden remained in silence upon hearing her words.
However, the truth was Kaiden could feel his heart skipping a beat as a surge of indescribable feeling crept onto him.
Wayion was looking gorgeous and relaxed still even if this was already the second time that Amelia met with him.
At this moment, he was sitting in opposite of her leisurely.
Meanwhile, his assistant was giving him a massage.
At the sight of this, Amelia remained calm as she greeted politely, "Mr. Zouch, it has been some time since I last met you. I even thought that you had already gone back."
It was Wayion's assistant who replied, "Mr. Zouch was waiting for the updates regarding the planning project in Eastern District. As soon as he knew that President Ramsay had successfully secured the project, he is here to congratulate you by himself!"
"Thank you."
Wayion began to speak cozily, "If this is the case, is there any good news that I can hear from you today regarding our collaboration, President Ramsay?"
With an enlightened look on her face, Amelia said, "Oh, I almost forget that I've been keeping the agreement that you had brought for me the other day."
Apparently, Wayion was not convinced by her words at all.
All this while he was waiting for her reply in his hotel. It was only when his patience was exhausted that he had no other choice but to pay a visit at Apex Construction Corporation himself reluctantly.
"I guess you already have an answer for that after such a long period of time. I can assure you that you're not going to get a deal as attractive as mine from other suppliers."
"I have already done considering your offer. In fact, I have signed the contract." Amelia brought the contract that she was holding in her left hand all this while to the front of Wayion before she added, "You can have a look at it, Mr. Zouch."
"Well, good then. I'm hanging up!"
Despite the fact that Amelia had already ended the call, she struggled to gather herself from her emotions.
She had not forgotten Eve's dramatic episode last night which caused Patrick to be mad at her. It made no sense that he was going to invite her for lunch together at this moment.
She could only think of his invitation as a carefully planned trap to avenge against her. Hence, there was no way that she was going to accept his invitation for lunch.
Upon collecting herself from the thought, Amelia brought herself to resume working.
After a long pause.
Knock...knock...knock...
"Please come in."
As soon as the door was opened, Amelia was caught by surprise with the person who showed up at the door.
Patrick was the last person whom she expected to show up at her office!
Her gaze turned cold as she asked, "How do you manage to come in here? Where's Audrey?"
Patrick marched into her office steadily as he replied, "Who's going to stop me if I want to see you?"
Without hesitation, Amelia picked up the phone on her desk in attempt to call over the security guards.
However, in the next second, Patrick had already stopped her from doing so in lightning speed. He forcefully hanged up the call before she could even reach the number.
Apparently, Amelia's attempt to call for help was met with failure.
Amelia shoved his hand away ruthlessly before she gritted, "What the hell are you doing?"
Patrick sat right on her desk before he shot her with a cold stare, "Shouldn't I be the one who ask you what were you trying to do? You were about to call for help to chase me out of your office, weren't you?"
