Amelia quickly came to the living room and squatted down. Abner had wrapped himself in the quilt like a silkworm. She carried him out from the quilt and grabbed his shoulder asking, "Did your uncle say when he's coming to pick you up?"
Abner rubbed his eyes and shook his head.
Amelia decisively took out her mobile phone and handed it to him, "I have your uncle's number here. You may call him now and ask him to take you back to your father's place."
"But...today's class...hasn't started yet," Abner was implying that he refused to leave.
"Abner, you are indeed a good boy." Amelia put on a fake smile and reached out her hands to gently pinch his cheeks.
She did that originally to vent her anger, but later she found that this child was so thin that he had only skin and bones left. She completely did not feel the chubbiness as when she pinched Andrew and Ashley.
On the contrary, her nail that she had yet to trim accidentally brushed his cheek. It immediately left a slight cut that could hardly be seen.
D*mn it!
Amelia was shocked that she quickly let go of him.
She had forgotten about Abner's physique being easily injured!
Abner was slow in reacting. He reached out his hand and touched the wound, looking as if he did not care at all.
Remembering Abner's strange disease that he would bleed non-stop once he got injured, Amelia immediately pulled out a piece of tissue from the tea table and covered it, "I'm sorry, Abner! You cover it properly and don't move. I'll go find you a plaster!"
Abner took over the tissue in silence and covered his wound.
Amelia got up to find the medicine box as quickly as she could. She pulled out a plaster after she got back. After tearing it open, she put the plaster on his face.
After that, she took the tissue out of Abner's palm and found that it was not stained with blood. The wound had already stopped bleeding.
She breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that she was overly panicking.
She saw Abner keeping calm, but she still felt apologetic.
Should she not discriminate against him instead?
Abner had already had a hard life.
If she vented her anger on him again because of Sissi, would he, who knew nothing, start to doubt his life?
Amelia reached out her hand and touched his face. She said apologetically, "Abner, I'm in a bad mood today. If I have said something bad or have accidentally hurt you, please forgive me. I didn't mean it..."
While she was self reflecting, Abner smelled the aroma of food coming from her fingers. "Auntie... I'm hungry..."
Amelia was stunned for a moment. She felt sorry and sad for him. Abner was really a thoughtful child.
She put on a relaxed expression, "Your nose is quite sensitive. Get up and come with me to have dinner at the table."
In the evening.
Ding dong ding dong...
Amelia put down the storybook and said softly to Abner, who was sitting in her arms listening to her, "Your uncle is here to pick you up."
She was this sure because Alice had a key with her. Moreover, given her personality that she seldom bothered others, she would open the door on her
own under normal circumstances.
Upon hearing her words, Abner responded with an 'okay' and automatically packed up the books that were all over the floor.
Amelia did not feel good about Kaiden for the time being, so she did not bother him for the moment. She helped Abner to tidy up.
After a while.
After assisting Abner with carrying his schoolbag, Amelia held out her hand to him.
Abner raised his hand and held hers.
Amelia took him to the door and turned the doorknob with her other hand. It was Sawyer's face that came into view.
Him standing so close made her feel that, to put it nicely, he was tall and mighty. If to put it bluntly, it was like standing under a dark cloud.
If Sawyer had a hint of kindness as a father, then he should have less tricks and more sincerity!
Sawyer's pupils turned dark as he lowered his head and said to Abner, "Did you hear that? Your Aunt Amelia said that dad's mistake would all be retributed on you in the end. She's clearly cursing you."
Amelia's expression changed when she heard that, "Sawyer Quartley!" Abner was obviously not her target!
However, it was too late. Abner looked at her with
his face showing that he felt hurt.
Amelia quickly picked him up and coaxed him, "Abner, I'm not cursing you! You're a good boy. You must be able to live a long life!"
Sawyer replied from the side, "Ms. Ramsay's words sound conflicting."
Amelia felt annoyed that she glared at him, "Mr. Quartley, why don't you come here and help instead of gloating! Don't forget whose son Abner is!"
Sawyer felt a subtle pride in his heart. He then took a step forward and carried Abner over from Amelia's arms.
Comfort from others was incomparable to that from Sawyer. Abner's emotion was quickly stabled down.
Seeing this, Amelia let out a sigh of relief. After that, she said to Sawyer with a tone as if she was driving the plague away, "Mr. Quartley, if there's nothing else, you may leave."
Sawyer's words were full of faint mocking, "I didn't plan to stay either."
Amelia paused for a moment and then said angrily, "That's great! There's no need for me to serve you either!"
After finishing her words, she shut the door with a bang.
She thought in her heart, Sawyer was indeed an
extremely annoying man!
He was even more annoying than Kaiden!
