Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1140

When Patrick heard Amelia say that she was very disappointed with her first marriage and first husband, Patrick gritted his teeth and defended, "I am evidently able to give you everything. It's you who doesn't want it!"

Amelia, however, had a funny look on her face. "What you're trying to say is that I was the one who let you down instead?"

Patrick looked back at her as if to say, "What else?"

With such a look in his eyes, Amelia could not help but feel a little angry, "Mr. Hopper, may I trouble you to recall everything that happened between us. We didn't have any wedding ceremony from the beginning. And aside from being an outsider of the Hopper Family, I don't even dare to receive any benefits from your family. Are you aware of what a woman needs other than her husband's love?

A woman still needs a title! But when I'm with you, I never got both! Maybe even until the end, I might not even be able to get them!

I admit that it may not be easy to find someone like you in the future, but at least there's a glimmer of hope, isn't it?

But what I can guarantee is that in the future, you will never find a woman who is able to love and tolerate you like me ever again..."

Noticing the undulated emotional expression in Patrick's eyes, Amelia realized that she had made an indiscreet remark. "What I meant just now was, 'once'!"

In other words, she had already given up on him!

Patrick's heart felt empty, and his face was so cold that it seemed like a layer of ice had formed on it.

Seeing that Patrick was left speechless, Amelia let out a sigh of relief and turned to look at the queue in front of her.

When she noticed that the traffic of people did not seem to advance from the beginning, Amelia muttered to herself, "How long more will it take?"

Patrick could not help but added on coldly, "It's a Saturday. Of course there are many people. Are you in a hurry?"

Amelia turned around and glanced at him. He was the one who was eager to get this over with, right?

Standing here and being looked upon like a monkey by people who came and went, Amelia was sure that Patrick had never felt like this before.

What Amelia did not know was that from the moment Patrick stepped into the Civil Affairs Bureau

and caught sight of her, his eyes had been thoroughly occupied by her. He did not care about who was looking at him and who had been staring at him for a long time.

Seeing that Patrick was still waiting for her answer, Amelia pretended to be relaxed and answered, "I'm not in a hurry. I'm just worried that Mr. Hopper will be rushing to accompany Sissi on a Saturday."

Upon hearing this, Patrick immediately burst into anger, "Of course I'm rushing! I can't wait to receive the divorce certificate now!"

Amelia pressed on, "Then, since you're in such a hurry, why didn't make sure that nobody else was here in advance?"

Just like more than a year ago, when they came here to register for their marriage certificate from the Civil Affairs Bureau, Patrick had cleared the crowd until there was no one left.

"That's none of your business!" With unspeakable anger, Patrick turned around.

In fact, he knew in his heart that the reason why he did not do so was because this was the last time he would be able to spend a longer time with her.

Time passed by bit by bit...

After the couple at the front of them got divorced, Amelia saw that there was no one else in the seat in front of Patrick.

"Who's next?" At this time, the officer raised his head and looked at them both.

Amelia's face turned slightly pale.

Sometimes, there were some things that one knew are about to happen. But when the time really came, one dreaded to face it so soon.

Amelia stared at the back of Patrick's head. She thought to herself that this man was not only heartless to her, but he was also so ruthless to her father. How could she still have feelings for him?

After thinking about how he had treated her in the past, Amelia informed him coldly, "Mr. Hopper, it's our turn."

Upon hearing this and standing in front of her, Patrick's face darkened significantly. The officer felt so intimidated that he shrank his neck.

When she caught sight of Patrick submitting back the signed contract to the officer, Amelia's heart could not help but feel a sense of melancholy.

That feeling was as if she had handed over all her love and hatred towards Patrick over to him...

After a while, two divorce certificates were pushed towards Amelia and Patrick respectively by the civil officer.

Amelia's fingers that were placed on her knees went a little cold. She closed her eyes and finally opened them hard. Raising her hands, Amelia reached out and grabbed the divorce certificate placed on the table.

Since Patrick was afraid of lagging behind, he also picked up his copy of the divorce certificate at the same time as she did.

Amelia stuffed the certificate into her leather bag without looking at it. Then, she pulled the zipper in a hurry and stood up from the chair that was beside Patrick's.

Since the way she kicked the chair was slightly out of control, the chair burst out a piercing-scratching sound which attracted the attention of many others.

Fortunately, not everyone paid attention to the issue revolving around the Hoppers, Ramsays and the Quartleys. After a quick glance and realizing that it was just a small accident, many resumed to be immersed in the joy of getting married or the sadness of registering for a divorce.

Noticing that Patrick was staring at her, Amelia pulled down her long hair which was hanging over her shoulders, and left without saying a word.

Listening to her footsteps getting farther and farther away, the light in Patrick's eyes dimmed little by little, leaving only the evil-like darkness.

After focusing on rushing away from Patrick and walked for a short distance, Amelia suddenly raised her eyes as if she had thought of something. She then looked around like a lost kitten.

Where was Alice and the rest of the servants of the Ramsay Family?

Just then, a familiar face appeared in Amelia's eyes.

After a moment of astonishment, she called out the man's name softly, "Huxton?"

Upon hearing the uncertainty in Amelia's voice, Huxton could not help but speak in a low voice, afraid of scaring her, "Yes, it's me, madam."
