Amelia came to her senses and scrutinized Huxton from head to toe.
She knew that she should have a good catch-up session with this long-time friend of hers, but she was not really in the mood. Hence, Amelia could only ask, "Has your wedding ceremony with Scarlett been held?"
As she spoke of his beloved woman, Huxton's face displayed a bit of tenderness, "Not yet. I'm currently preparing to end my probationary period at the police station. After being promoted to a official police, I'm planning to bring Scarlett to meet her parents and ask them to take charge of the overall ceremony for us, at the same time witness our wedding. At that time, we hope that you'll come to our reception, madam."
"Yes, I will definitely attend your wedding." Pausing for a moment, Amelia added helplessly, "It's just that Huxton, you don't have to call me madam anymore. It's not appropriate."
Huxton felt a little pity and changed the usage of his words awkwardly, "I see, Pre... President Ramsay."
Amelia forced a smile and replied, "President Ramsay is just an empty title. Since we're so familiar with each other, just call me Amelia. You know, like how you would address a friend."
Huxton answered a matter-of-factly, "I wouldn't dare."
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that Patrick was walking towards them. Amelia immediately stopped talking about the old days and bided, "Then I won't force you anymore. Your master is here. I'll be leaving now."
As her voice fell, she turned and disappeared into the crowd, heading towards the direction where Alice was.
"Madam..."
"Huxton!" Patrick's gloomy voice rang out in the blink of an eye. Instantly, Huxton's urge to persuade Amelia to stay was suppressed back into his stomach.
Turning around, Huxton enquired in a low voice, "Sir, have you dealt with the issue?"
Patrick gave a deep hum and shot a glance at the direction where Amelia disappeared to and questioned, "What did you guys talk about just now?"
"President Ramsay was asking when my wedding with Scarlett will be held..." Seeing Patrick's frosty face, Huxton subconsciously explained for Amelia,
"Sir, President Ramsay didn't talk to me about you, let alone speak ill of you."
Humph, she did not mention anything about him!
Patrick's expression became more gloomy by the second.
Huxton's expression was clueless. Why did he feel that Patrick became even more unhappy after hearing what he said?
On the other end...
Amelia returned to Alice's side and informed with some embarrassment, "Aunt Alice, I've already received the divorce certificate. We can go now."
Alice knew that although it was normal for Amelia to say nothing and acted as if everything was normal in the past few days, still, how could a woman not feel sad after a divorce?
Standing up, Alice held Amelia's shoulder and gently said, "Amelia, no matter what happens, you will always have my support."
"Okay!" There seemed to be a flash of wave in Amelia's clear eyes, but soon it disappeared in a blink of an eye.
There were still a lot of reporters waiting forthem outside. How could she break down at this moment and make a fool out of herself in front of them?
Lifting her head and puffing her chest, Amelia said, 'Aunt Alice, I want to go home now."
"Okay, let's head back now."
As soon as Alice spoke, the servant of the Ramsay Family who had been waiting behind her immediately stepped forward and shielded the both of them in the middle of with a protective posture.
"In that case, Mr. Quartley is here to pick Amelia up. Do you think that he's going to have a head-on confrontation with Mr. Patrick? Don't forget, Mr. Patrick is still in the Civil Affairs Bureau. He will definitely be out soon!"
All the reporters had differing opinions.
However, for Amelia who was one of the parties involved in this, was calm and collected, at least on a surface level.
"Miss. Ramsay, congratulations... for regaining a fresh start."
When these words came out of Sawyer's mouth, Amelia smiled. "Mr. Quartley, it should be me to congratulate you. After throwing much shade on the Hopper Family, they won't be able to clear their names even if they jump into the Missouri River."
Sawyer's voice became hoarsely low and he subtly asked, "Ms. Ramsay, what did you mean by that?"
Amelia looked up at him and explained, "I used to wonder why there were rumors about Mr. Quartley's whereabouts since you were very secretive about your life. News about your private life haven't been reported for years. I was wondering why when it came to Abner, the news of just a mere pick-up by you from my house was released. I brainstormed about it again and again, and I couldn't help suspecting... That you directed and acted all these on your own."
Sawyer flashed her a faint smile and did not comment further.
Amelia continued, "After this, I thought about your past history together with Patrick and Lady 'R'. The fact that all of your affairs can be clearly released to the world, I don't think an ordinary person will be able to do this. Although I am affiliated to all of you, I can't carry this out on my own either. After all, I am not the direct party involved."
Sawyer's lips raised. "So what?"
Amelia continued, "After that, I studied the report and since it was able to be drafted on a large scale and in such a short period of time, only you and Patrick were capable of this. And, since the whole report was based on you and Sissi' true love, while on the contrary, Patrick was portrayed as a demon who was unwilling to break up with Sissi. I believe that Patrick will not characterize himself to be like this. The answer is obvious now, who was the real perpetrator between the both of you."
Sawyer's eyes darkened. In the end, he did not deny this fact.
Amelia finally added, "The reason why you replaced Sissi' name with Lady 'R' was because you wanted to protect her identity and prevent her from getting hurt. Yet still, you made me your weapon. Although I don't know what method you used, the person who imitated my voice and contacted the director of the newspaper company must be you! Am I right?"
