"Mr. Hopper, Ms. Elliott is here."
Due to the rainy weather, it was getting darker outside. The indoor looked warmer and brighter in the light of the chandelier.
If there was something brighter than the light, it must be the man sitting on the sofa... Patrick.
Kayla looked around and happened to meet Patrick's eyes. She bit her lower lips and asked timidly, "I'm sorry to have come without notice, did
I disturb you?"
Patrick said calmly, "No, Ms. Elliott. Please take a seat."
"Glad to hear that." Kayla breathed a sigh of relief and walked towards him. She sat opposite him and said in a joking tone, "I was afraid that I've come at the wrong time and will be driven out by you."
"Ms. Elliott, you should not have worried so much," Patrick said in a lukewarm tone.
The secretary looked at them and thought, he was indeed the boss!
In the face of a noble lady who was his blind date at the same time, the boss was only acting politely. But even so, the mayor's daughter had still listened to him obediently.
The secretary retrieved her thoughts and said, "Mr. Hopper, I'll go and prepare some tea for Miss Kayla."
Patrick nodded. Out of his expectations, Kayla said, "Miss Secretary, please prepare some drinks for President Ramsay as well. After all, she had come first, yet she had to wait after me. I feel so sorry about that."
The secretary did not dare to answer her immediately. Instead, she glanced at Patrick. "Mr. Hopper...?"
Patrick gently tapped on his knee with his finger and asked expressionlessly, "Did she complain about anything outside?"
"No, President Ramsay said that she can understand."
She could understand?
It seemed that she had not suffered enough!
Patrick said sullenly, "If that's the case, then there's no need to prepare a drink for her since she can understand it anyway!"
Why was he being like a little kid? He was completely different from his calm self when facing Kayla!
The secretary complained in her heart.
Kayla said to the secretary, "Miss Secretary, President Ramsay seemed to have said something before we came in, did I remember it wrongly?"
"Uh... Did she?" The secretary frowned and thought.
Patrick did not say anything, but he was paying all his attention on Kayla at that moment, which he had not done so before.
"Oh, I've got it!" Kayla's eyes suddenly brightened, "President Ramsay said, 'I wonder if Shawn had eaten well'. So... who is Shawn?"
Not knowing whether she did it intentionally or not, Kayla had even impersonated Amelia's worry in her words through her expression and tone.
Patrick was no longer calm as the center of his eyebrows was full of darkness, as if he was going to kill someone.
"Call her in!"
"Mr. Hopper?"
"Hmm?" Patrick had even stopped talking and only gave the secretary a murderous look for her to think about it herself!
The secretary trembled in shock. She had even forgotten to prepare tea for the mayor's daughter as she directly opened the office door and rushed out.
He came to her with a gloomy face, which his height had brought pressure to her and Miss Secretary as well even though there had always been only one person in Patrick's eyes.
Even though he looked extremely fierce, Amelia could not hide her anxiety and asked, "Mr. Hopper, may I have a moment of your time?"
She had already accepted her failure that day, but
Patrick's sudden appearance had made her regained her hopes. She did not want to experience the same things when she came back the next day.
After hearing her words, Patrick felt calmer. He would be really desperate if she had only turned around after he went out in person.
After calming down, he said coldly, "Come in." "Okay." Amelia followed him while the secretary breathed a sigh of relief behind them.
The secretary placed a cup of coffee and two cups of water in front of the three sitting on the sofa and then she stepped aside.
"President Ramsay, it seems that I've contributed again for you to have met Patrick." Kayla said softly without realizing that she had caused trouble to Amelia.
Amelia looked at her with confusion. "Ms. Elliott, I don't get what you mean."
"Oh, I've impersonated..." Kayla was eager to answer, but was interrupted by Patrick coldly, "So why were you looking for me?"
In Kayla's regretful sight, Amelia turned to look at Patrick and said lightly, "Then I'll go straight it to the point..."
Amelia began to talk about the story of her being sued by Mr. Quade which she had no intention in avoiding Kayla as she had seen the happenings on the previous night anyway.
After hearing Amelia's story, Kayla's delicate face became furious, "That's too much! He was truly the wrongdoer! No way! Patrick, you must claim justice for President Ramsay!"
When Patrick heard Kayla addressed him as "Patrick" without his permission which she even did it in a familiar tone, Patrick frowned. But then, he saw Amelia there. He pretended to have not heard her and said, "Ms. Elliott, you may not know that an excessive sense of justice is the most unnecessary thing for a businessman."
