Patrick could not help but displayed a charming smile as he noticed Amelia that stared at the menu lifelessly. He pretended to be concerned and asked, "President Ramsay, you seem to be in a dilemma?"
"No... no, it's just that this sashimi platter is for ten people. I thought that for the three of us, it would be sufficient to just order a platter for three..."
The price would also be reduced by more than half, wouldn't it? Amelia thought to herself.
But, how could Patrick follow her as he wished? Tormenting her was his primary mission after their divorce!
Patrick laughed as he crossed his arms. He then said, "You intend to replace a platter for ten with a platter for three? I'm so impressed that President Ramsay would say this in front of her guests..."
Silence then fell.
Patrick's black pupils stared at her as if he was looking at a little prey who was struggling to save her life. He continued slowly, "President Ramsay, are you saying that me testifying for you in court is not worth 6999 dollars of sashimi?"
Shocked, Amelia denied, "Of course not!"
Under Patrick's deep gaze, she waved towards the waiter standing far away and ordered, "Since Mr. Hopper insists on eating, I will try my best to satisfy your appetite."
Patrick smiled ambiguously, "But I have a big appetite. Is Director Ramsay sure that she can satisfy me?"
Under Kayla's innocent gaze, Amelia did not understand the deeper meaning of his words. She endured the pain and reluctantly answered, "Of course. In fact, I have a lot of cash today. Mr. Hopper and Ms. Elliott, please feel free and eat all you want, I still have my credit card if cash isn't enough."
Kayla's gaze was filled with joy as she heard Amelia's word, "President Ramsay, you're so forthright. No wonder you were the former Mrs. Hopper!"
Former...
Amelia's whole body shook whilst Patrick could not help but curse in his heart, "D*mn it!"
Kayla murmured as she observed their reactions, "Well... I didn't mean to bring up your sad history!"
At this time, the waitress who was summoned by Amelia came over and asked, "Distinguished
guests, what would you like to order?"
Amelia blinked and struggled out of the strange emotions that was plaguing her. After ordering two bowls of ramen, she also ordered an enormous platter of sashimi. Then she asked them, "Do the both of you have anything else to add?"
"Patrick's green tea!" Kayla added quickly.
"Okay." The waitress noted it down and retrieved the menu immediately.
Afterwards, the three of them fell into deep silence.
Although Amelia who was the hostess of the dinner had the duty to elevate the atmosphere, one party in front of her was her ex-husband while the other was her ex-husband's arranged partner. Was she supposed to ask how the both of them were doing?
Amelia took a deep breath and decided, "Excuse me, I'll have to head to the restroom first. Please help yourselves."
Patrick's malicious gaze was fixated on Amelia all the way until she turned into a corner and disappeared. Kayla asked weakly, "Patrick, is it possible that I said something wrong that made President Ramsay angry?"
After Amelia was gone, Patrick immediately resumed his distant and indifferent tone. "It seems
that Ms. Elliott understood that she said something sensitive."
Kayla mumbled sulkily, "It seems that it's better for me to go and earnestly apologize to her."
Indifferently, Patrick advised, "Don't, because this will only remind her again that divorce is not a pleasant experience."
Well, Kayla had nothing more to say.
Ring, ring, ring—
Patrick's gaze was suddenly fixed on the leather bag opposite of him when he heard the sound of a ringing phone.
Amelia felt that she might have chosen the wrong place for dinner due to the surplus amount of customers tonight, which led to a lot of people visiting the restroom, inadvertently causing her to not occupy a stall for a long time.
After drying her hands and then squeezing out of the women's restroom, suddenly Amelia found herself blocked by Patrick.
She greeted him in low spirits, "What a coincidence, Mr. Hopper. Were you going to the toilet as well?"
Under everyone's gaze, he stretched out his long arms and pulled her into his embrace. Lightly, he whispered into her ear, "Follow me, or else our discussion about my testament in court will be dismissed."
"Where are you taking me to?" Amelia looked at him puzzledly, but did not resist him at this period of time.
"You'll know when we get there." After speaking heavily, Patrick took her in his arms and left and they entered a private room for VIP guests.
Amelia was extremely surprised by this and could not help but look at Patrick. She realized that his eyes were filled with an underlying sense of turbulence and a sense of crisis suddenly arose within her.
"I remember that I booked ordinary seats."
Patrick's lips twitched, "Do you think that it's difficult for me to get a VIP card with my status?"
Amelia went silent.
With the phone clutched in his hand, he used it to slowly lift up her chin. Patrick asked unhappily, "Didn't you intend to ask me something? Now's a great opportunity for you to do so. Why don't you say something?"
The cold feeling on her chin attracted her attention. Amelia did not even hear what Patrick said to her and she lashed out to snatch back her phone.
However, Patrick had already lifted it over his head. He was more than 1.8 meters tall. And with the distance of his arm, Amelia could not possibly reach her phone even if she were to stand on tiptoes.
In the face of Patrick's height, Amelia displayed a rare childish side of her and puffed her cheeks. "Mr. Hopper, could you please explain why my phone is currently in your hands?"
Patrick looked at her furious complexion and replied icily, "How about you explain why Kaiden had been bothering you incessantly?"
