Amelia rubbed the space between her brows and answered with some annoyance, "Right, I won't go back on my word, provided that the issue with regards to Mr. Quade is solved perfectly."
Patrick answered without hesitation, "Of course."
Amelia glanced at him. "Don't be blindly confident. I learned from the hotel manager that Mr.
Quade had already taken some action in advance."
"Oh?" Patrick softly replied.
"The hotel manager hinted that Mr. Quade bought over the surveillance video in the private room that night. Probably because of the bribe, he was forced to tell me this vaguely, and the rest was what I figured it out myself later on." Amelia explained.
Patrick stared at her worried face and said slowly, "No matter what tricks are up his sleeve, we still have to wait for two days until the trial, and then everyone will see the truth. We're not doomed to lose just yet, so don't be quick to lose your composure."
"Well, that's the only way I can think about it now." Amelia interrupted as she cast a sidelong glance at him. As she noticed Patrick's calmness, she could not help but sigh. No matter what kind of opponent this man met, he would still be able to maintain such calmness.
And this was the source of her peace of mind. It was as if as long as he was there, everything would no longer be a problem.
Patrick suddenly turned around at this moment. He looked at her with a seemingly strong desire in his eyes and said, "Oh yes, about this Friday night..."
A leopard really can't change its spots! It was really incredulous how much she admired him just now!
No! Patrick was the one who made her so mad that she could not think straight, how could she blame herself for this!
"If the meeting on Friday night proves to be difficult for you, then I would reconsider giving you the sedative and testifying against Mr. Quade." Patrick's deep and mellow voice made Amelia's heart tremble.
Everything between them was just a transaction!
All she had to do was to repay him with her body while he helped her with his financial capabilities. Other than that, there was nothing else between them!
Amelia's heart turned as cold as ice. She shot back,
"You don't have to reconsider anything. This Friday night, I will definitely meet you on time."
As Patrick observed all the bitterness in Amelia's eyes, he got in a bad mood. He secretly thought that she showed such an expression because she did not want to meet him. So he said, "In fact, you can think about it from another perspective. The trial will convene on Friday morning. If I can help you solve the trouble with Mr. Quade's law suit, would you feel better?"
Amelia looked at him and her red lips parted slightly. "Your way of comforting people is really unique."
Patrick bitterly questioned as he heard the hidden mockery behind her words, "Since when has it become a form of torture for you to even meet me?"
Amelia gently closed her eyes, and her fan-shaped lashes slightly bent into a pitiful arc. "Isn't this what you want, Mr. Hopper?"
It did not matter. He would give her such an opportunity now! As long as she told him how much she regretted her decision, he would forgive her for making this wrong decision on impulse and be willing to start over with her!
Under Patrick's hot gaze upon her, Amelia gingerly replied with a faint bitter smile, "If possible, I would go back to the time where we haven't even met, so that in this life we would not have any connections to each other."
If they did not know each other, they would not have the opportunity to cause so much pain to each other. She would also not love and hate him as much as she did today.
Patrick shook as if he had been punched by an invisible fist. Though Amelia's voice had already faded, it was still echoing repeatedly in his mind. He could not bear it anymore and roared, "That's impossible!!!"
Amelia tilted her head, in attempt to stay away from his sudden lost of control. "Don't you want this too? If time can be reversed and we don't know each other, maybe you would be happily living with Sissi today."
Her blunt words made Patrick's chest ache. He continued asking in a hoarse voice, "Then, what about you?"
Amelia thought for a while and then said slowly, "I may pass you by like the thousands of employees in Roxxon, and there would be nothing worth remembering about me in your life..."
Patrick's chest suddenly felt even more painful. After listening to her assumption, he was about to go crazy, what more when this becomes a reality!
At that point, Patrick asked fiercely as he stared at her soft but stubborn little face, "Is this the kind of life you really want?"
"Probably." After Amelia finished speaking, her heart suddenly felt at ease. Although she would not live a more comfortable life compared to Patrick, at the same time, it also meant that she would lose experiencing all the myriad of colors that Patrick would bring in her pure white canvas of life. He had brought her pain, undoubtedly, but they had actually been very happy before...
