Amelia was standing outside the ICU looking at Patrick who was sleeping quietly with an oxygen mask on his face, through the thick glass.

While she was on her way, she had imagined that Patrick might have woken up. Maybe he could even blink at her or wave his hand at her. Unfortunately, such good things had not happened.

Just as Amelia was changing to a different position after being tired standing, a figure suddenly appeared beside her and asked softly, "Do you want to go in?"

Amelia looked back and found the man a little familiar.

She thought about it carefully and found that the man's eyes looked like that of the doctor who had performed the operation on Patrick while wearing a mask the previous day.

She asked tentatively, "Was it you? The previous doctor?"

He said, "Yes, I've seen you standing here for a long time."

Amelia nodded and said, "I really do, but I heard that we are not allowed to go in and out of the ICU, so..."

Eve said fiercely, "I have nothing to reason with you! You're the culprit who made my son to be in this state. Get out of here now if you don't want to get hit!"

Amelia curled her lips coldly and said, "You are really good at uttering nonsense. It was truly you who had ordered Connor to hit me, but ended up hurting Patrick accidentally. After all, it's all your fault!"

"Shut up!!!" Eve roared angrily.

She stared at Amelia and cursed bitterly, "Why don't you just die!? So my son's life can be back on track. Let me tell you, Amelia, how I wished I could have hit you yesterday! How I wished for you to go to h*ll!!"

Amelia said with a cold tone, "Yes, I did make the promise, but I can't make it today."

Kaiden hurriedly asked, "Why not?"

"I'm not in the mood." After that, she pressed hard on the Bluetooth headset with her finger.
