After a moment of silence, Amelia suddenly asked defensively, "Why did you tell me these? Aren't you afraid that I will tell Patrick, or your father?"

Sawyer's answer was simple: "Patrick can easily find it out through his connections if he wanted so I wouldn't care if you tell him or not. As for my father, I've been out of his control for years."

Amelia thought for a moment and asked, "You've brought Abner here today because of Sissi, right?"

Sawyer nodded his head. "You're smart."

Amelia did not buy his words. "It's not because I'm smart. I was just wondering why had you revealed to me that Sissi is with you. The reason that could have forced you to do so should be Abner."

Sawyer slightly frowned in distress. "That's right, ever since I told Abner about his birth mother, he had always been very cold to Sissi, while other members of the family were also affected. I wanted to know why he had become like this, so I seek for your help to make him speak it out."

Amelia said with a smile, "When I learned that Abner and Sissi were not in harmony, I felt so happy that I'm unwilling to offer my help in solving the matter."

Sawyer said coldly, "Ms. Ramsay, don't think that you can do whatever you want because I'm in need of your help. I can destroy your precious Easthern District Project at any time."

Amelia kept smiling and said, "Don't hurry into conclusions before I finish my words. I can offer some help, but it's obviously beyond the scope of our original agreement stating that I'll teach Abner to read and speak as your intention today is related to the happiness of you and Sissi in the future. Don't you think you have to offer more reward?"

"You want money?" Sawyer quickly returned to be calm. "That's no big deal."

Amelia sneered. "I'm not asking for money, but I hope that you can limit Kaiden's movement tomorrow onwards and order him to not harass me anymore."

Sawyer had originally expected Amelia to make a huge demand, not knowing that she would have proposed such a term.

He thought of how Kaiden had pestered him a few days ago, asking him to help Amelia.

He also remembered that after being rejected by Amelia on the phone, Kaiden had dragged him into the crowd to get in the court.

After watching the video of Amelia being violently treated while being fixed on the dining table by Mr. Quade, Kaiden would have smashed the water bottle in his hand over if he had not stopped him in time.

Sawyer had never seen Kaiden so devoted to a woman. Even though he had been ignored by Amelia for the whole time, he still had an indomitable spirit.

But, thinking of Sissi's pitiful teary eyes, Sawyer finally decided, "That's a deal."

After Amelia took Abner back to her room, she deliberately left a small gap when she pushed the door close.

She made Abner sit on the carpet, then took the schoolbag off his back, unzipped it and took out a storybook. She asked with great excitement, "Abner, where did we stop last time?"

Abner flipped open the storybook with his little finger and stopped on page number 8. He pointed on the story titled A Little Frog' and looked at Amelia.

Amelia held his little finger in her hand and said softly, "No, I want to hear your voice."

As Sawyer stood outside the door, his tensed face relaxed slightly after listening to Abner reading the story through the gap. It seemed that it was right to seek help from Amelia.

About half an hour later, Sawyer lowered his head and looked at his wristwatch. At that time, Amelia was still teaching Abner to read.

But, he was a man who was good at keeping his composure, which was fully shown when he learned that Sissi had first looked for Patrick instead of him as soon as she returned to Northville.

"Then... why... are you not... my mom!"

What?... Ahem..." Amelia choked on her saliva. After a while, she said, "Abner, are you sick? Why are you talking nonsense? Hahah... you must be sick. I'll go get you a glass of water while you stay here."

The moment Amelia came out of the room, she met Sawyer's thoughtful eyes. There was no time to be embarrassed and she brought him to the corner of the corridor on the second floor.

After they stood face to face, Amelia asked, "You should have heard Abner's words just now, right?"

"Yes," Sawyer replied in a low voice.

"Then my task is completed. Don't forget to fulfill the agreement we've just made."

Amelia had no choice as Kaiden was truly bothersome. She could only rely on Sawyer's violent pressure.

Sawyer nodded his head. "Thank you for today."

Amelia did not buy it, "Stop being polite. I'm not used to it."

While they were talking, Brittany limped out of a bedroom on the second floor.

She had been staying in the room for the whole morning. When she was about to go downstairs to find something to eat, she saw a couple standing in the opposite corridor.

Brittany took a look at the man's side profile and she could tell that he was a good-looking one. While she took a closer look, Brittany suddenly realized. Was he not Sawyer? Amelia's scandal boyfriend!
