Patrick continued, "And you said that you like being in the kitchen with my presence where
I clumsily learn how to cook, as it makes you feel a sense of accomplishment."
"Yes, I've said all these." Amelia had to admit it. "But, you must have also heard that I'd like to live a peaceful life."
Patrick said firmly, "I can grant you that!"
Amelia was no dreamer. "But considering our positions, how will others look at us or how will the public talk about us? We are doomed to not have such a life!"
Patrick glanced at her and said, "Our positions can be changed, and our lives are in our hands. Why should we care about the opinion of others?"
"It's always easier said than done," Amelia also reminded, "You still have Miss Kayla as your blind date."
"I can immediately ask to end the relationship with her." He had agreed to date Kayla previously just to piss Amelia.
Amelia's heart beat wildly as she said, "But, it was Grandpa who had arranged her for you."
"No one can stop me, no one!" "Not again..." Amelia had the urge to sigh. "After I've offended your mother, I'm already having a hard time. If I offend Miss Kayla and your grandfather again, I don't think I can stay peacefully in Northville, or even in the country again. I'll just become the next Sissi and be forced out of the country directly."
Patrick wanted to say something but there came several knocks on the door. Amelia put down her spoon and said with a frown, "I'll open the door."
"Leave it!" Patrick said with a frown as he had not finished speaking yet.
Amelia glanced at him and said, "For the sake of your health, you'd better frown less."
It was the director of Peace Hospital knocking at the door. When he saw Amelia opening the door, he immediately looked panicked and said in a low voice, "Madam Ramsay, why did you come again? Didn't I tell you not to come often yesterday?"
"I... "
The director said earnestly, "I've made the exception to let you in behind Mrs. Hopper again and again because you've assisted Mr. Patrick with the operation and the doctor pleaded for you while you have a good attitude as well. But, you shouldn't... have not considered about our position at all!"
Amelia clenched her fists as she was very clear of how her actions would have troubled the hospital.
"Sorry..."
"Madam Ramsay, I'm not asking for your apology, but your cooperation instead. Can you understand?" The director raised his voice by accident and was heard by Patrick.
"Amelia." Patrick gently called Amelia and asked innocently, "Who's outside?"
Amelia was stunned. While the director suddenly looked nervous, she turned to Patrick and said calmly, "It's the director."
"Hello, Mr. Patrick," said the director as he stepped out at the right timing and said respectfully to Patrick, "I'm here to change your gauze."
Oh my god!
Having the director to personally come to change his gauze was really...
Amelia did not know how to describe it, while Patrick said unhappily at the moment, "But, I'm still having my dinner. And I don't want to be disturbed by irrelevant person."
The director stopped awkwardly.
Amelia hurriedly advised him, "Patrick, your wound matters."
Patrick said faintly, "Our dinner matters as well. Let's eat first."
Since Amelia stood still at that moment, Patrick said seriously, "Do you need me to invite you for a seat?"
Amelia got speechless by his uncompromising attitude, and could only get back to her seat and leave the director standing aside.
Right after Amelia sat down, she gave a few glances to the director from time to time. Patrick was really unhappy. "Weren't you in a hurry to see Jessica? Hurry up and eat."
Since he had broken the ice, Amelia simply persuaded him in a coquettish tone, "Patrick, please allow the director to change the gauze for you."
She thought the director was quite a nice person as he had ignored Eve's ban on her and allowed her to approach Patrick several times. Besides, the director was already an old man, so she felt a little sorry to see him being forced to stand beside her.
Patrick's heart softened when he saw the pitiful look in her eyes so he said with mercy, "I'm full, you may change it for me now."
The director answered with relief and then glanced at Amelia gratefully.
He had finally realized that Amelia was Patrick's safety button as she was the only person who could control Patrick's temper. It seemed that he should let Amelia continue to visit him!
When the director removed the gauze from Patrick's head, Amelia's pupils contracted. She saw a deep and long cut on the right side of his forehead. Although it had been stitched, the dense threads and the size of the scar had still made her heart ache.
She cried sadly, "Patrick..."
Patrick immediately became nervous. "What's wrong with you?"
Amelia tearfully stared at his forehead and became sadder as she said, "The wound on your head..."
Patrick revealed a look of understanding. "Is it terrible?"
Amelia shook her head without thinking. "No, it's just that I feel so painful looking at it!"
She felt even more pain and unbearable than being injured herself!
"It's fine. I thought you were disgusted that I was disfigured," Patrick said half-jokingly.
"Director!" Amelia got reminded so she could not help but asked the director: "Will the cut leave a scar? Can it be restored to its original appearance through any treatment?"
Before the director could explain, Patrick asked, "Why should it be removed? Can't I keep it?"
Patrick choked and let out a light cough. Then he waved to her and said, "Come change for me then."
"All right." Amelia answered and asked softly, "Where's the new hospital gown?"
"In the wardrobe behind you."
Amelia turned around and opened the doors of the wardrobe. She took one out from the neatly folded hospital gowns and put it beside Patrick.
"Do you want to take it off yourself, or should I..."
Amelia asked somewhat uneasily.
Patrick leaned back and spread his hands with his eyes pointed straight at Amelia, revealing his answer through his actions.
Amelia had no choice but to unbutton his shirt. She did it from top to bottom, one by one, gradually exposing his sexy clavicle and firm chest. Amelia's cheeks were slightly burning.
Patrick could not help but smiled when he saw her blush. He said with his voice low as if he was deliberately seducing her. "Why blush? It's not your first time seeing it after all."
Amelia rolled her eyes at him and decisively unbuttoned the last two buttons. Then she pulled his blue gown aside, revealing a piece of bandage that was firmly wrapped...
As Amelia recalled the scene back in the emergency room that day, she tea red up again.
"Why are you crying again?" Patrick raised his hand with pity and wiped her teary eyes. "If I had known it would make you cry, I wouldn't have let the director change the dressing in front of you."
Amelia tried her best to put on a smile. "I'm just too fragile to see you in such state."
Patrick only replied, "It's all over."
It was all over.
His words sounded so tough and powerful, making
Amelia believe without a doubt that it was indeed over.
After putting a new gown on Patrick, Amelia did not button it for him as she thought that the director would have to change his bandages later.
Amelia feared that he would catch a cold while being half-naked, she said, "I'll ask the director over."
"Come back!" Patrick exclaimed.
Amelia turned to glance at him subconsciously. "What is it?"
Patrick knew that she was about to go for the date, so he said in a low voice, "Be careful on the way. Don't hang out too late with Jessica. The outside world is too chaotic for you."
