It showed that Patrick could actually care for her to a great extent.
He was worried that she would have no means of transportation as her car was broken. Thus, Patrick forced the director to arrange a car for her.
Although Amelia refuted and said that she could just take the subway, Patrick insisted. He even stared at the director fiercely, making him stop changing his bandages and pick up his mobile phone to call the vice deputy director to personally drive Amelia to her destination.
Amelia was so embarrassed that her face turned red.
She thought Patrick was too much.
"I'll compensate you a new car after I'm discharged from the hospital," said Patrick.
Before Amelia could shake her head, the deputy director opened the door and came in, panting. Then he said, "Madam... Madam Ramsay, I'm here to pick... pick you up!"
Amelia was even more embarrassed when she saw that he was also an old man. Since Patrick was watching at the side, she could only say, "Deputy
director, sorry to trouble you."
She turned around and asked Patrick, "Then, bye?"
"Remember what I said just now." Patrick said worriedly.
Amelia softly said "Yes". She turned around, and left.
The deputy director immediately followed her.
After they left, the director said while doing his work, "Mr. Patrick, you've really doted on Madam Ramsay."
Patrick glimpsed at him coldly. He was obviously still angry with him. "It's none of your business."
The director only said, "Uhmm..." In his heart, he decided more firmly to let Amelia continue to visit Patrick while hiding it from Eve. Otherwise, given Patrick's temper, none of them could handle him!
Patrick's eyes were full of deep emotions when he stared into the direction in which Amelia had left. He insisted on having someone to send Amelia off because he was worried that his mother would still hold evil intentions and do something bad to her on the sly.
On the other side, after Amelia and the deputy director had just walked out of the ward, she suddenly stopped and said to the old deputy director beside her, "Sir, I know you're busy so there's no need to see me off."
The deputy director quickly said, "No, no, no, since Mr. Patrick had personally ordered me to do so, I must complete his task no matter what!"
"It really doesn't matter," Amelia refused with a smile. "I'll be sorry to let you send me around considering your old age. Don't worry, I won't tell Patrick."
"Well..." The deputy director became less determined as he explained his difficulty to Amelia.
"Madam Ramsay, as there's a Chief who is suffering from stroke being sent into my office just now, so..."
Amelia said with understanding, "Then I really shouldn't take up your time. Your job is to save lives and not to be a temporary driver."
"Madam Ramsay is indeed sensible!" The deputy director gave her a thumbs-up.
After bidding farewell with the deputy director, Amelia took the elevator alone to the first floor.
She walked out of the hall and stopped a taxi to head to the western restaurant where she had agreed with Jessica.
After a 40 minutes' drive.
Amelia paid the fare and got off the car. She lowered her head to call Jessica while walking to the main entrance of the western restaurant.
"Miss, how many people, please?" Asked the waiter standing at the door as soon as he saw Amelia.
Amelia pointed at the phone in her ear and then gestured the waiter with two fingers.
Jessica happened to pick up her call at the moment so Amelia said a soft "Hello?" and asked, "Jessica, I've arrived at the restaurant. Where are you sitting now?"
Jessica had a bad feeling so she quickly stood up and rushed to the washroom.
The washroom was empty, no one was using it at all.
Jessica's eyes were full of panic. Amelia did not pick up the phone and was not in the washroom, where would she be?
"I have no choice but to look for him!"
After wandering around like a headless chicken for a long time, Jessica decided to take out her phone and call a person she thought she would never contact for the rest of her life.
At Peace Hospital.
Patrick was about to lie down and rest, but he stopped when he saw his phone screen suddenly light up. It was an unknown number.
He thought that it might be the deputy director calling to keep him posted. Patrick eventually picked up his phone and pressed the answer
button.
"Hello, is it Patrick?" Asked the other end of the phone hurriedly.
It was a woman's voice which sounded a little familiar.
Patrick answered, "Yes, I am."
"I'm Jessica! Please don't hang up. I have something to tell you!" Said the woman.
Patrick's eyes darkened. He would have hung up without hesitation normally. But, when he thought of Amelia going to see Jessica that night, he could not help asking, "What's wrong?"
Jessica said quickly, "Amelia and I have agreed on having dinner at Peter's Tex-Mex Grill today. Before I get to meet her, she called me saying that she was at the toilet. Halfway through, I called her once which she said that she was almost ready and there was no news from her after that! I called her but she didn't answer. I was worried, so I went to the toilet to take a look but there was no one there."
