Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1336

After Amelia changed, she took the glass of milk and finally put herself to bed.

She fell asleep within seconds after laying down. It was then the door to her room was being pushed open from outside gently.

At the sight of Amelia sleeping soundly, Owen who was standing at the door all this while could not help but think that he had made a correct decision to lace a sleeping pill into her glass of milk.

He then turned around and spoke to the foreign female doctor, "Dr. Callie, this way please."

According to Carl, the woman named Callie was a well-known surgeon from the local hospital. That was why he had invited her over to check on Amelia.

"Sure." Callie threw at him a flirtatious look as she walked pass him.

Owen decided to disregard her frivolous behavior. He then followed at her back into the room.

Upon entering the room, Callie's gaze was immediately attracted by Amelia's delicate features. She could not help but ask, "Officer Hopper, is she your girlfriend?"

"She's my sister-in-law." "Oh, I see. Your brother must be a very lucky man to have her. Judging from your look, I bet your brother is as handsome as you." Callie took the opportunity to flirt with Owen.

Owen smiled as he boasted proudly, "You're wrong. My brother is much better looking than I do."

"You must be kidding me." Callie remained doubtful at his words. After all, in light of his handsome features and finely built body, Owen was so far the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. That was why she could not believe that any men who was better looking than him did exist in the world.

"That's enough, Dr. Callie." Owen thought that it would be best not to stray away the topic too much. He hurriedly continued, "Could you please treat the injuries on her arms and also run a check on other places. I want to make sure that there's no other hidden injuries."

"Will do." Callie put down the first aid kit before she flipped the blanket open.

Amelia had already changed into an ankle-length dress that came with long sleeves. As compared to the dress earlier, the one at this moment was relatively conservative.

Owen kept an eye when Callie was nursing the injuries on Amelia's arms.

When she was about to take off Amelia's dress for a body check-up, Owen immediately had his back turned against them. That was not enough for him. He even kept his head low although he still paid close attention to the slightest movement at his back.

It took Callie some time before she straightened herself and said, "It's done, Officer Hopper."

Owen turned around to face them upon hearing this. All he could see was Amelia in that maxi dress while Callie was covering the blanket on her.

Owen asked, "How's her condition?"

Callie replied, "Other than the varying degree of injuries on her arms and the back of her left hand, I found no other intrusive injuries at other places. Hence, we can't exclude the possibility of selfharm."

Owen's gaze turned cold as he rephrased after her, "Are you saying that she caused the injuries on her arms and hand herself?"

Callie nodded, "You're right, that's possible. I spotted dried blood stain from her fingernails."

Owen remained doubtful at such possibility. He questioned, "Isn't it possible that the blood belonged to someone else?"

Callie reinstated her point, "What if I were to tell you that she harmed herself in order to suppress the effect of aphrodisiac had on her body?"

As he heard this, Owen immediately sank into his own thought.

As far as he could recall, he remembered that she did seem as if she was in agony and that her expression was suppressive when he first saw her on the stage from afar.

However, at that moment he misunderstood it as she was being swept away by an overwhelming sense of humiliation.

At such realization, it began to make sense to him that why would she listen to Sawyer and sat on his laps willingly. It turned out that the aphrodisiac had left her with no choice!

Callie further elaborated, "This kind of drug is illegal in our country due to its excessively adverse effect towards human body. Whoever that consumes this drug will be overwhelmed with such a powerful sexual desire that will only drive her mad if she were to hold it back. Don't you find it suspicious that there's no visible sign of her being assaulted despite the fact that she was drugged?" "I see!" Owen stared at Amelia who was sleeping soundly, he felt his heart aching for what she had gone through. After all, she was a part of The Hopper Family. Meanwhile, he could not help but

admire her extraordinary determination!

Callie left some ointment for Amelia before Owen called someone over to send her off.

Although Callie was keen to develop a long distance relationship with Owen, he made it clear to her that he was in love with his wife. That was why Callie had no choice but to forget about what she had been hoping for.

Since Callie had only inspected Amelia's external wounds, hence her pregnancy remained unknown to Owen.

Amelia woke up to a hint of savory aroma in the air.

In the next second, she could not help but feeling her stomach churning. She rubbed her eyes as she turned in the direction where the aroma seemingly came from.

A food trolley could be found next to her bed. At the sight of the variety of exquisite dishes on the trolley, she sat up from the bed immediately!

Owen who entered the room at this moment happened to see Amelia waking up from bed.

He heaved a sigh of relief before he said smilingly, "Amelia, you're finally awake."

As soon as she heard him, Amelia held back her thought to feast on the food. She glanced up and greeted, "Owen, you're here!"

Owen replied softly, "Mm... I came to see you, and you happened to wake up at this time."

Amelia glanced at the window and found out that it was a bright day with sunlight radiating outside. She could not help asking, "Owen, how long have I been sleeping?"

At the sight of Amelia gobbling her meal and complimenting the food in between, Owen found it amusing. However, he could not help feeling sorry for her too. He said, "Eat slowly. No one is going to snatch the food."

It was the first time that he ever saw Amelia devouring her meal as if she had been starved for some time. He could not bring himself to imagine what she had been through for the past one week.

Amelia was afraid that she might empty the plates without leaving the appropriate sum for Owen. Hence, she called out, "Owen...You should eat too!"

Judging from her reddened cheek, Owen thought that she must have been choked by a mouthful of food. Smiling, he shook his head secretly as he brought her a bowl of soup, "Here you go."

Amelia took over the bowl and began gulping the soup. It took her a few seconds to empty the bowl. She then asked embarrassingly, "Does the way I'm eating look very bad to you?"

Owen could not help but chuckle, "No, it doesn't. The way you've been eating seemingly suggests that those food is scrumptious. You make me feel

like eating all of them."

The longer she got to spend time with Owen, the more she was moved by his thoughtfulness and tenderness.

She used to be fearful of him. However, at this moment, all she had for him were gratitude, respect as well as unbreakable trust.

Sinking at her thought as she stared at him, it was Owen's voice that pulled her back to the reality. Owen joked, "Amelia, why are you staring at me? I have to remind you that I'm married. But I can suggest you to consider my brother. He's an eligible bachelor."

"Owen!" Amelia realized that Owen could be a smart-mouthed some time. For instance, his words had immediately made her cheeks burning.

"Fine, I'll stop messing around with you. Let's continue eating." Knowing that Amelia was a shy person after all, Owen decided to not press on the joke any further.

When the blush on her cheek began fading, all in a sudden Amelia asked, "Owen, I remember that you were wearing suit when I last saw you. Why have you changed into uniform today?"

As they got to the information, Owen's expression turned serious as he said solemnly, "Amelia, I'll answer this question later. But right now, you have to finish your meal."

"Okay." Amelia did not retort either. She buried her head in the plate and continued savoring her food.

After making sure that she could no longer fit anything in her stomach, Amelia finally put down her cutleries. She turned to Owen and said, "That's enough for me, Owen."

Owen straightened himself before he spoke, "Amelia, first of all, I have to apologize to you."

In a state of confusion, she asked, "Uh? Why?"

Owen could not help feeling remorseful as he explained, "When you were being locked in the cage for auction, I was right there below the stage. I did not reach out to help you. That was why you ended up in Sawyer's hand."

Amelia was stunned at his words. Before she could process such piece of information, Owen had continued saying, "Weren't you asking me why I was in suit the first time when we met here? That's because I was an undercover police at that time. I sneaked into the club pretending as if I was one of the clients for business."
