Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1337

After Owen's explanation, Amelia finally had a clearer picture as to what had been going on. Hence, she said, "Owen, I understand that your hands were tied at that time. That's why you don't have to apologize to me. Imagine if you were to bid me and I had exposed your identity by accident, I'm the one to be blamed for the failure of the entire action. Look, it's not that I have been taken advantage of."

With that said, she ended up grinning in order to ease his tension.

Owen looked at her in her eyes meaningfully. He would rather Amelia blame him than speaking for him in his shoes thoughtfully.

He thought that somehow she would feel better if she got to vent her emotions.

With this thought in mind, Owen decided to lead her into viewing the whole incident in a different shade of light. He said, "Amelia, had I been helping you out at the first instance, you won't even get your arms and hand injured."

Amelia shook her head before she said earnestly, "Owen, even if you were to help me at that time, I will still end up wounding myself.

I guess you are probably still unaware of the fact that those injuries were caused by no one but me.

Long before I was being auctioned, I was drugged. That drug was driving me crazy. I had to rely on pain in order to distract myself from the overwhelming sensation and hence preserve my sobriety.

But, I feel nothing after waking up. I guess the effect of the drug had completely drained off."

Her words left Owen with nothing to say at this moment.

Amelia could be extremely stubborn sometimes. That was why excessive sympathy and those comfort words were completely useless for a woman like her who would rather carry everything on her shoulder.

Since Owen was opening up to her, Amelia thought that she could take the chance and be frank with him. She no longer hid her question, "Owen, I would like to inquire you regarding a person in particular."

"You want to ask me about Sawyer, am I right?"

"You're right."

"I have already interrogated him."

Amelia was delighted, "Really? Does that mean you already know what happened between me and

him?"

Furrowing, Sawyer replied, "No. He refused to say anything. I couldn't make that b*stard talk."

As soon as Amelia heard about it, she hurriedly explained, "Owen, Sawyer was the one who helped me!"

In face of Owen's silence, Amelia decided to press on further, "Owen, I'm sure you saw me jumping down from the stage the other day. If Sawyer were not there to catch me in time, I'm probably crippled by now!

Although he took me to his presidential suite afterwards, I can assure you that he did not hurt me at all. On the contrary, he talked to me and got me ice water to wipe my hand and face in order to ease my suffering."

Her voice was getting softer as she explained. Despite knowing that her words might not help his situation at all, she felt that she was obliged to speak out the truth. That was the least and only thing she could do for him.

Owen fell back into silence after hearing her words.

After all, he could not overlook the fact that it was probably the best timing to get rid of Sawyer at this moment.

As soon as they submitted the evidence that they gathered to the court, capital punishment was the only sentence awaiting for Sawyer!

"Amelia, I'm not sure if you know this or not. Sawyer was the reason that the Hopper Family and the Quartley Family ended up becoming rivals."

Under the pressure of his penetrative gaze, Amelia lowered her head as she murmured, "I know..."

Owen's expression darkened upon hearing him. Feeling outrageous, he blasted, "Who gave him the right to speak to me like this?! I came all the way to Italy to save his wife. What I get in return is him claiming that he is going to hit me! What a brat!"

"You're right..." Yet to recover from shock, Carl had no other choice but to go along with whatever his captain said.

Glaring at him, Owen began to direct his anger at Carl, "What's right now? Let me tell you. Increase the number of force of guards at the entrance and reinforce the security here. I don't want any single person from outside to set their foot at this premise! Do you hear me?"

Owen secretly thought, "If that b*stard were to break into this place to see his wife without expressing any gratitude, I swear that I'm going to teach him a lesson today! He need to know how to respect his brother before he gets to see his wife!"

Carl who happened to be involved in the fight between the siblings of the Hopper Family sought to resolve their conflict, "I don't understand, Sir.

He's here to help us. I don't think it's appropriate for us to chase him away..."

Owen snorted when he heard Carl, "Carl, don't you get it? He's here for the sake of his wife. If I were to die here, do you believe me when I say that he won't bother to come at all?"

Carl muttered, "Sir, how can you curse yourself to death..."

It was at this time that both of them heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

The shoes of policemen were specially designed so as to leave no sound on the floor upon walking. That was why at the first instance Owen could simply differentiate those people from his underlings judging from the sound of footsteps.

As the sound of footsteps getting closer, finally a man who was at the front leading began to speak, "Owen, how can you say like this? Somehow, I have to be here to retrieve your body if you were to sacrifice in your course of duty."

Owen's expression could not get any darker. He scolded furiously, "Br*t! I told you not to come, yet you're here with your men. Are you trying to go against my order?"

Standing right in front of Owen, Patrick looked at him in his eyes as he demanded unfearfully, "Where's Amelia? I want to see her now!"
