He squinted. Owen intentionally said, "You've been extremely rude to me. Why must I let you see her?"
Patrick replied coldly, "I'm the one who provided you with the information. How did you treat me instead? You returned my favor by stopping me from coming to Italy! Why on earth must I keep quiet and be nice to you?"
Owen was embarrassed at his words. He tried to defend his action, "I don't want to expose you to unnecessary risk. Most importantly, I don't think you're fit to travel."
"Bullsh*t! Where's Amelia?" Patrick was still holding grudge against Owen for restraining his movement back at Northville. That was why he could not bring himself to be polite to him at this moment.
At the sight of his own younger brother disrespecting him in front of his underlings, Owen could not help feeling embarrassed. A hint of anger could be traced from his voice as he scoffed, "What can you do if I refuse to tell you?"
The underlings from each side were equally confused. They could not believe that the two brothers would in fact stand against each other for the sake of a woman. After all, it was not a secret that the two brothers from the Hopper Family shared a strong bond of siblingship.
Patrick soon noticed that one of Owen's men at his back secretly sneaked a glance at the door next to him as if he needed to be sure of something. At the sight of this, Patrick raised his eyebrow victoriously as he announced, "Owen, Amelia is right behind this door, isn't she?"
Owen's heart pounded fast at his words. Even so, he managed to stay calm as he denied expressionlessly, "No, you're wrong. This is my room. I've arranged Amelia to stay at somewhere secret which is relatively safer. If you want to know her precise location, all you need to do is beg me."
Those men at the scene could not believe that Owen would be so mean to his own brother.
A crooked smile began to creep onto the corner of Patrick's lips. Undefeated, he said, "I don't need you to tell me whether my guess is correct or not. I can go in and check myself."
Without hesitation, Owen commanded, "Stop him! Now!"
Patrick did not retreat either. He instructed his men, "Charge!"
At this moment...
The door behind Owen cracked open.
The noise immediately caught both Owen and Patrick by surprise. The troop of men from both side who were about enter into a braw, were stunned too.
Amelia stuck out her head from the room. She murmured, "I can hear the noise from inside. What's ongoing here..."
Amelia did not get to finish her sentence as her gaze immediately fell onto Patrick among the crowd. Amelia was stunned to the extent that she lost her ability to speak all in a sudden.
"Patrick..."
The last piece of memory she had for him was that he risked his life just to save her in a car accident. As a result, he was then rushed to the ER of the hospital.
She remembered that he suffered grievous injuries from the car crash. There was no way that he had completely recovered within a couple of days time.
"Has he completely lost his mind? He is supposed to stay in the hospital!"
As soon as Amelia showed up at the door, Patrick's gaze sparked with immense love as he stared at her. At the sight of this, the police force on duty could not help but step back.
Their action was no different from disregarding Owen's command. Owen was triggered at the sight of this. He was about to scold his underlings when one of his men spoke, "Sir, I don't think we should stop them from seeing each other. Can't you see that both of them are madly in love with each other?"
At that moment, Amelia turned around and looked at Owen before she asked confusingly, "Owen, is it true that you stopped Patrick from seeing me?"
"Um..." Owen stumbled over her question all in a sudden. He did not know how to explain to Amelia regarding the conflict that he had with Patrick all this while.
Patrick's deep gaze refused to drift away from Amelia. He could not help frowning as soon as he noticed the bruises scattering on her arms as well as the bandage on her left hand. He ordered right away, "Amelia, come here."
Amelia immediately strode towards Patrick without hesitation. Knowing that he could not change her mind at this time, Owen had no other choice but to step aside in order to make way for her.
At the sight of Amelia coming to him, the corner of Patrick's lips could not help but lift upwards. That was a smile that Owen had not seen Patrick flashing at him when he first saw him. He wondered if he was secretly feeling envious towards Amelia.
When Amelia came to a distance reachable with his hands, he could not help but lift his hand and pinch her chubby cheek, "Good girl."
At the sight of her nodding, Patrick immediately carried her back into the room without hesitation.
Owen was stunned at the sight of this. Ever since Amelia showed up at the door, Patrick had not been setting his eyes at him anymore, let alone speaking to him!
He had no other choice but to admit the fact that his presence was completely unnecessary at this moment. No one was capable to come in between the loving couple who had just reunited.
"I bet on my life that they're getting remarried once they're back in Northville!" thought Owen.
Inside the room.
With Amelia in his arms, Patrick marched towards the bed before he threw himself onto the bed from the back. As a result, both of them ended up lying on the bed.
"Patrick..." Before Amelia could say anything, Patrick had already sealed her parting lips with his overwhelming kiss.
Amelia did not seem to expect a make-out with him so soon. Her voice startled and broke between his overbearing kiss, "Hold on... I thought we're supposed to have your beard shaved."
Patrick continued to kiss her as if he had not heard her.
Amelia was not used to Patrick having beard. Hence, the pricking sensation coming from his beard when he pressed his lips against her rendered her feeling uncomfortable. She struggled to turn her face away as she cried out, "Beard! Shave your beard first..."
As a result, Patrick grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him in his eyes in the next second. At this moment, his expression was nowhere close to being calm. Instead, she could read from his eyes that he wanted nothing but to have her over and over again to himself!
"Hey you! I don't want to talk about the d*mn beard with now!"
At this moment, he wanted to feel every inch of her body so badly as if this was the only way to prove to himself that she was still alive!
Amelia was taken aback by his sudden anger. She grumbled pitifully, "Why do you have to be so loud to me? What have I done? Aren't you the one who said that you wanted to have your beard shaved here?!"
