Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1375

Even though Sawyer was calm, he was still amused at what happened. What were the odds that Amelia was able to persuade Owen and Patrick to let him go?

Just then, two guards dragged a familiar figure from around the corner.

Sawyer fixed his eyes on the man and immediately recognized that it was Brayden!

As soon as the guards let go of Brayden, Brayden fell to the ground with a thud.

Brayden ground his teeth then pushed himself up with his hands and looked at the man standing before him. After that, he cried out, "Mr. Quartley! Is that really you? You're still alive... I'm not dreaming, am I?"

As Brayden went on, he began to choke and cry.

One of the guards that dragged Brayden said expressionlessly, "Captain Owen ordered us to bring this guy to you. The both of you may leave now."

Sawyer noticed that one of Brayden's legs was injured, but Sawyer's expression remained unchanged when he replied, "Well, send my thanks to Captain Hopper then. Farewell."

It was a sight to see Sawyer lifting such a tall and strong man that was Brayden with such ease.

With Brayden sobbing right beside Sawyer's ear, Sawyer responded in an attempt to comfort him, "Yes, I'm still alive." After that, Brayden fell silent.

Just like that, the both of them slowly disappeared from everyone's sight.

At the entrance of the club, Brayden stopped his tears and exclaimed with utmost delight, "Mr. Quartley! It's good to know that you're alive and well..."

Sawyer returned him an indifferent look and said, "I'm sorry that you've suffered."

"Not at all! It's nothing!"

At this, Brayden immediately climbed down from Sawyer's back and stood on his legs. He then apologized to Sawyer, "I'm sorry for my incompetence. Not only did I fail to rescue you, but I've also fallen into Owen and the others' hands. I've been a disgrace!"

"Enough, all is well as long as you're fine. Don't blame yourself for anything."

After a pause, Owen gazed up at the sky and said in a low voice, "What we should think about now is how are we going to return to Northville."

"That's easy. I'll call my men to pick us up right away!" As soon as Brayden finished, he immediately came to realise something. "D*mn it! They have my phone and wallet! It looks like I have to borrow a phone from a passerby!"

However, Sawyer turned down his idea.

Brayden asked in confusion, "Why?"

Sawyer was cautious. "We can't be completely sure if Owen has truly intended to release us. If we summon our people hastily, we may lose more men if Owen is using us as bait to lure them out."

Brayden was stunned upon the revelation. "Mr. Sawyer, you're right. Out of everyone who came, only you and I are released. The rest of our men are still detained."

Although Sawyer did not show it, he was in a sour mood. He had immense trust in all of the men he had brought along. Needless to say, many of Sawyer's investments and resources that he had spent on them had gone to waste because of the capture.

Brayden then followed up, "Well, they may want to use you as bait, but why did they let me out too? Isn't that strange?"

"Because you're someone I think highly of. They want to use your condition to strike me down," Sawyer answreed calmly.

Hatred burned in Brayden's eyes. "It's all that woman's fault! If she hadn't sold me out, Owen wouldn't have caught me!"

Sawyer's brows knitted when he asked calmly, "Why are you blaming Amelia?"

Brayden then told Sawyer about everything that happened the other day, "If we can return to

"Thank you, Owen. I know just what to do. Thank you too," Amelia then looked at Patrick as she have her thanks.

So, Owen smiled at Patrick as if to indicate that that was the best he could do, which earned a displeased stare from Patrick in exchange.

Patrick did not plead for Sawyer for Amelia's

gratitude! He just did not want to owe Sawyer a favour!

But, Owen did not see it the same way Patrick did. He continued to signal to Patrick to tell him that he should seize this opportunity! Perhaps he could successfully propose to Amelia this way!

Patrick saw through Owen's mind as he said with a poker face, "Owen, don't you have official duties to take care of? You should be going on."

"Official business? I don't..."

"Owen!" Patrick's voice sank.

Owen then had no choice but to cover his tea and got up from his chair. He looked at Amelia and said, "That right, Amelia. I'll take my leave first as I have other things to attend to."

"Owen, have lunch with us at noon," Amelia then invited. She was looking for an opportunity to formally thank the two brothers.

"About that..." Owen sneaked a glance at Patrick.

Patrick pursed his lips. Although he knew that it was selfish, he wanted to spend the rest of the time with Amelia alone. Because of that, he shook his head at Owen behind Amelia's back.

Although Amelia could not see what was happening, she could tell right away that Owen was looking at Patrick's reply.

Amelia knew that Patrick was petty enough to stop Owen from coming over for lunch. So, when Owen hesitated, she grasped the chance and said, "That's a deal then. See you around noon later. Make sure you come!"
