Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1391

After Sissi pretended to sober up from her drunkenness, she could not help but reach out to hold Sawyer's hand. She was overwhelmed with excitement as she exclaimed agitatedly, "When did you come back home? What time is it now? Where had you been these days? Why I had not heard from you at all all this while?"

In face of her row of questions, Sawyer was not annoyed either. Instead of feeling like she was questioning him, he thought that it was her way of showing her concern. Sawyer's gaze softened. He placed his index finger vertically on his lips as a gesture of silence before he shushed, "The kid is here."

"What?" Sissi followed his gaze and that was when she finally noticed the small boy lying on the couch in opposite of her. In a trance, she murmured, "That's my child..."

At this moment, Sawyer successfully changed the subject matter of their conversation.

Sissi's gaze fell directly on Abner. However, in the next second, Abner turned around and had his back facing her.

Sissi's expression turned gloomy at the sight of this. She could not help turning around and whispered to Sawyer dejectedly, "Abner doesn't want to see me even during his sleep..."

"Nonsense." Sawyer comforted, "He was merely turning to another side. Don't overthink it." With that said, he helped her to the couch.

He then picked up the thermos flask on the coffee table and began filling a glass of water. He handed the glass to Sissi as he asked, "How have you been when I was away?"

Sissi took over the glass before she replied softly, "I have been eating on time every day.

I don't turn on the lights during sleep at night either. I remember all your instructions by heart."

"Good..." Sawyer took a pause before he continued to ask, "But, why have you been drinking?"

Sissi replied without a doubt, "That's because

I have been missing you."

Sawyer raised his eyebrow unnoticeably. Sissi had no idea what was on his mind at this moment. The feeling of uncertainty made her feel restlessly uneasy.

She could not overlook the fact that Sawyer was the only man who was ready to offer her the world especially after Patrick stopped protecting her. Therefore, she had to cling herself to Sawyer and Abner no matter what happened. Otherwise, she was going to be alone and untaken care of for the rest of her life.

At the thought of this, Sissi asked warily, "Sawyer, what's wrong? Are you mad at me?"

Sawyer replied, "I'm not mad. It’s just that I'm worried of you. Don't you forget that you're still carrying a child inside with you.

Although it's not our child, I don't want anything to happen to it either."

Upon hearing this, Sissi hurriedly said, "I know. I won't be drinking anymore. Can you forgive me this time?"

"I've told you. I'm not mad at you." Sawyer narrowed his eyes at the glass of water that Sissi was holding all this while. He then said, "Your throat must be burning. You should drink some water."

Sissi did as per told. However, her gut told her that Sawyer was acting strangely.

However, that remained as an instinct as she could not tell exactly what was strange.

Sawyer waited for she to put down the glass before he reached out to stroke her hair. He then asked, "Do you need to use the washroom?"

Sissi thought for a while before she nodded.

Sawyer acknowledged her by giving her a brief nod before he said, "Go then."

Sissi could not help but wonder if she had been overthinking. After all, the man in front of her was soft and tender to her. She could not tell exactly what was the difference as compared to the past.

As Sissi thought about it, she was more or less relieved. She then stood up before she murmured warily, "Then, I'll go now?"

Smiling, Sawyer replied, "Okay."

Sissi startled for a moment before tugging the corner of his shirt subconsciously. She asked confusedly, "Are you leaving?"

Sawyer turned around and saw her staring at him pitifully. At the sight of this, Sawyer could no longer bring himself to be harsh towards her. He said, "What I meant is that I'm going to bring Abner to his room before coming back to accompany you."

"Why don't you let Abner sleep in between us?" Sissi heaved a sigh of relief before she said fawningly, "You're really a weirdo! You carried the child here at this time and now that you want to send him back again. Don't you think that it's troublesome?"

Sawyer pondered for a while before he caved in, "Fine. Let's go upstairs."

Sissi took a step ahead in an attempt to carry Abner. Unfortunately, she had completely no idea how to carry a child. As a result, she got a forceful kick at her chest before she could lift him up.

"Ouch!" Sissi was not willing to give up after the first attempt. Just as she was about to make her second attempt, this time her neck was being scratched by him.

Sawyer's expression darkened at the sight of this. At this moment, he could tell that Abner was merely pretending that he was asleep. After all, as a father, he knew his child way too well.

Sawyer could not bear to see Sissi's defeated expression. Hence, he said, "Sissi, I'll carry him."

Sissi glanced up at him with a glimpse of sorrow in her eyes. She began to think that it was her fault as she murmured, "It seems like I have not been adopting the correct posture. Why don't you teach me now?"

What Sawyer did not say it out loud was that this had nothing to do with her posture of carrying Abner. Had Abner refused to let her carry him still, it was completely useless for him to teach her.

Nevertheless, Sawyer was still glad that Sissi was willing to learn to be a mother. Hence, he began to teach her the proper way of carrying a child which was once taught by Savannah.

Sissi was a keen learner and she picked up quickly Just as she was about to carry Abner confidently, it was only then she realized that Abner had woken up! At this moment, he was staring at her alarmingly.

At the sight of this, she was on the verge of breakdown. What she did not know was that Abner was going to upset her more. He turned around and looked Sawyer. He then mumbled, "Daddy, I want Aunt Amelia to tell me stories. Can you bring me to her tomorrow?"
