His action immediately attracted Amelia's confusion. She stared at him in puzzlement as if she was wondering why did he push her away.
In fear that he might cause her misunderstanding, Patrick hurriedly explained, "Mrs. Hopper, you smell too good for me now. It has been quite some time since we last made love. I'm afraid that I'm going to lose control at any time. I don't want to force or hurt you."
When Amelia heard about it, all in a sudden Amelia was enlightened.
She had to admit that she was moved by his goodwill. However, at the same time she was overwhelmed by guilt. She bit her lips before she said, "Patrick, are you feeling hungry? I can go downstairs and get you something to eat, what do you think?"
The atmosphere between them was immediately filled with awkwardness after she changed the subject matter all in a sudden.
Patrick fell into an awkward silence before he replied calmly, "You're probably tired after having a rough day. I don't want to trouble you just to get me food."
"Nah, it's not troublesome at all! I'm starving actually. All I need is to make two portions." Smiling, Amelia made way for him to go to bathroom, "You can bath now. Food will be ready in a while."
"Mrs. Hopper!" All in a sudden, Patrick pulled Amelia back to his side again. A glimpse of sorrow began to spread across his eyes.
He wished that he could ask her in face the reason why she chose not to tell him about her pregnancy. At the same time, he was scared that his question might led her into thinking that the Hopper Family was going to take away the child from her.
At the sight of his gloomy face, Amelia could not help asking concerningly, "What's wrong?
As soon as Patrick noticed her puzzled look, he hushed, "Who am I to you?"
"Huh?"
He repeated his question again more forcibly, "Mrs. Hopper, who am I to you?"
He remembered that she had once demanded an answer of the similar question from him. He could not help but find it irony as their position had interchanged. At this moment, he was the one being insecure.
Amelia knew too well how it felt to be insecure. After all, she had been in that position before. Therefore, she replied affirmatively, "You're my lover now. Isn't that enough?"
Patrick wished he could scream it out loud, "That's far from enough!"
Amelia could tell from his darkening expression that he was not happy with her answer. She then said, "If you wish for something more between us, it's not impossible at all. All I need is for you to agree with that condition that I mentioned before."
Patrick immediately understood the condition that she was referring to. She asked for indestructible trust between them. She demanded for space and right to contact with any males without having him casting a doubt on her.
Patrick narrowed his eyes as he asked bossily, "What if I still can't agree with your condition?"
"We can only maintain with what we're having now." She made it very clear that she needed her own circle. She was not going to compromise even if that was a call made by Patrick. Hence, she added, "Or maybe we're not going to make it for now too."
With that said, Amelia immediately noticed the fury in his dead stare. In fear that he was going to lose his temper, she could not help but struggle to get rid of his grip of her hand.
In the next second, he pulled her into his arms unexpectedly. He buried his head on her neck and muttered in frustration, "Mrs. Hopper, you're so mean!"
What frustrated him more was that there was nothing that he could do to change her mind!
A bitter smile crept onto the corner of Amelia's lips. She murmured, "I have learnt my lesson from our past marriage. If you find me hurting your pride to say this, I don't mind to apologize to you. However, I'm still going to stand on my point firmly."
Amelia made it very clear that she left no room for bargaining on this issue.
At the end of the day, he had to admit that the problem lied with him mostly. After all, what Sissi had done to him in the past was enough to scar and traumatize him. That was why he had trust issue. He was obsessively controlling and possessive when it concerned a relationship. It was not Amelia who intentionally looked for her own troubles.
Patrick decided to vent his frustration through kissing her. His overbearing kisses began to scatter around her neck. It was only when she let out a soft grunt that he finally stopped. He muttered earnestly, "Mrs. Hopper, I promise you that I'm going to change. I will try to be less controlling.
Action speaks. You shall just wait and see." Amelia heaved a sigh of relief at his words. A tiny smile crept onto the corner of her lips unnoticeably.
She wondered if she had just unlocked an achievement of taming Patrick.
After all, it was unbelievable that Patrick was going to cave in for her.
gloomily, "Fine. How do you wish to thank him later?"
Amelia pondered for a while before she asked for his opinion, "We'll invite him to have breakfast with us, what do you think?"
"That's all?" Patrick thought that Amelia's suggestion was not wholly unacceptable after all.
Amelia glared at him as she fired back, "What else do you expect?"
"That's it!" Patrick replied affirmatively.
"Wayne, thank you for dropping by and sending these for me. You've been out early in the morning. I guess you're yet to have your breakfast. Please join us!"
Under the pressure of Patrick's dead stare, Wayne was smart enough to keep a safe distance from Amelia.
Amelia's invitation for breakfast had indeed caught Wayne by surprise. Despite looking forward to it, he did not forget to sneak a glance at Patrick in order to seek for his permission.
As soon as Patrick nodded coldly, Wayne pulled out a chair and began sitting on it excitedly.
Wayne handed over a sealed plastic bag to Amelia before having his breakfast. He said, "Mrs. Hopper, you can check whether I've gotten everything that you've lost inside. Let me know if there's anything else missing. I can go and get it for you."
Amelia took over the bag from him and opened it immediately. There were her identity card, driving license, phone and car key in the bag. Everything valuable that she could think of was inside the bag. It did not really concern her as to whether she could get her money back.
After running a check of the contents in the bag, she glanced up at Wayne as she asked, "Where did you find all of them?"
Wayne replied grinningly, "The truth is, my men and I got you a replacement of them yesterday. As for the phone that you're holding now, I bought a new one for you based on the description that Patrick had given me. Don’t you think that they all look new to you?"
Oh really?!
