When Amelia passed by Brittany’s room, she realized the door was open. She looked into the room without thinking much about it.
As a result, she happened to see Alice walking out with a tired look.
"Aunt Alice, did you stay up here all night?"
Amelia walked to Alice's side, massaging her shoulders as she asked softly.
Alice pulled herself together and replied, "I did. Brittany was running a high fever last night, and I was worried, so I stayed to keep watch."
"Aunt Alice, everything must have been exhausting for you lately."
Amelia noticed Alice's grey hair behind her head, which was almost unimaginable of Alice, who had always paid close attention to her image.
When Alice heard the words of Amelia, she touched her hair as a hint of helplessness flashed in her eyes. "I have no choice."
Amelia suggested, "Aunt Alice, I think you should take some time off to a beauty salon or a gym. Health is vital, isn't it?"
Alice laughed, "The beauty salon? The gym?
Amelia, I don't have the mood for it."
Amelia said in a joking tone, "You can't say that. You don't want my father to find out you've become old and withered when he wakes up, do you?"
"George..." Alice murmured the name of the person she loved, and a terrifying thought sprang to her mind. Would she really be old and wrinkled the day when George finally woke up?
When Alice thought about it, she could not help but feel sorrowful.
She was not sad because she was aging, but because she was scared she would not be able to wait until the day when George woke up.
With the despair on Alice's face, Amelia knew that she had said something wrong and hurriedly changed the subject. "By the way, how's Brittany?"
After Alice suppressed her negative emotions and gently replied, "Her fever has gone this morning. The doctor said she'll be fine after resting for another day."
Then, the original plan to send Brittany back to the school would not be hindered, would it?
Amelia felt relieved and said, "Aunt Alice, let her have a good rest. Let's go downstairs for breakfast."
"All right."
Brittany, who was lying on the bed suddenly opened her eyes when the sound of footsteps faded away.
After that, she stretched out her hand from under the quilt and put it on her forehead. When she found that the temperature had returned to normal, she could not help but curse in her heart!
D*mn it!
Yesterday, she spent the entire afternoon in the cold shower to finally catch a fever. But, she had recovered overnight!
If she was not mistaken, Alice would still be sending her back to school!
At the thought of this, Brittany got up from her bed and walked to the bathroom, enduring the sore from all over her body.
Twenty minutes later.
Alice entered the room with breakfast but she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. She placed the tray of breakfast on the table and knocked on the bathroom door.
"Thank you, Mommy!" Brittany suddenly hooked her arms around Alice's neck and kissed her on the cheek. Then she scampered away.
"This girl!" Alice was startled. She was about to give Brittany a pat, but in the next
second her body swayed. Her hand no longer aimed at Brittany. Instead, she reached for the nearby wall.
Brittany came back to Alice's side immediately after hearing the noise. She asked worriedly, "Mommy, what happened to you? Don't scare me!"
After Alice recovered, she said to Brittany, "I'm fine..."
"You must be exhausted after taking care of me. It's all my fault for tiring you out," Brittany said. But deep down in her heart, her feelings were all numb although she sounded like she was genuinely concerned about Alice.
Whenever Brittany thought of how Alice had turned against her for Amelia, her blood would boil. Moreover, her hatred for Alice intensified when she discovered the secret that was kept hidden for many years!
When Alice heard Brittany blaming herself, Alice could not help but feel a warmth in her heart. "It's all right. You're my daughter. Who should I care about if not you?"
Who would she care about?
Needless to say, of course, she would care a lot about the orphan that came out of this house!
"Alice, oh, Alice. You're the one who can't distinguish right from wrong. You let an outsider bully your own daughter. And since that's the case, don't blame me for being merciless!" thought Brittany.
At the same time, in Ramsay's residence kitchen.
As soon as Amelia stepped into the kitchen, the head chef immediately came up to her and asked, "Ms. Amelia, what are you doing in the kitchen? Are you still hungry after breakfast? Do you want me to..." "Don't worry about it," Amelia interrupted gently. "I came here to make dumplings."
"Dumplings?" The chef knew Amelia had a habit of cooking, so he rolled up his sleeves and said, "I'll help you!"
