When Amelia heard that Brittany had gone out early in the morning, her expression remained normal. "Isn't it normal for Brittany to head out? Her legs have recovered. With her personality, it would be strange if she could bear the loneliness."

Alice said, "It's not that simple. At about halfpast nine, I received a phone call from Detective Gary. He said Brittany was meeting with a few old men and sent me their photos. I looked at it and found out that it was actually Kaleb and the other directors of the company!"

As soon as Amelia heard about it, she felt a surge of rage rising in her heart. She had sent Kaleb out for business, but he had dared to sneak back before the scheduled date of return.

Also, the directors that Alice mentioned were probably those who were absent from work this morning!

"Alice, are the directors in the photos named Lu, Lin, Chu, and Xing?"

Alice gave it a careful thought. "It should be the ones that you mentioned. They had all gone to the hospital to visit your father before, so I still have some impression of

them."

Amelia frowned and said, "They neglected their duties during working hours, and they gathered up with Brittany. That couldn't be coincidental. What on earth are they planning to do?"

"About this... Detective Gu didn't have time to figure it out. However, I believe that with Brittany's temperament and history, they might be planning to exploit her. That's why I plan to send her back to school in two days. Amelia, you should be careful when you're in the company."

"Not yet." Amelia touched her stomach and whispered, "I'm starving. I didn't eat enough during lunch back at the company."

The reason why she was starving was that the fish she got from the canteen was smelled and tasted too fishy. As a result, the morning sickness hit her, which emptied her stomach.

However, Alice who knew nothing about this assumed that Amelia was simply hungry for no special reason. She said, "Then let's go downstairs and eat. The kitchen stewed herbal turtle soup, which is nutritious for women. You should eat up later."

When Amelia heard the name of the dish, Amelia felt a churn in her stomach.

At the dining table, Alice could not help but become displeased since Brittany did not come down to have dinner after waiting for her for a long time.

After taking a step forward, Alice remembered about something and turned back. She said to Amelia apologetically, "Amelia, I've to go up to see Brittany. Excuse n me.

indifferent but was not enthusiastic too.

After Alice went upstairs, Amelia asked herself with suspicion, "Isn't it too coincidental for Brittany to catch a fever at this time?"

In the bedroom.

As soon as Alice entered the room, she saw Brittany lying on a beautifully decorated canopy bed, murmuring something.

She walked over and heard Brittany calling out, "Mommy..."

"Brittany, Mommy's here." Alice reached out to lift the curtains. When Alice saw Brittany that was unconscious, she put her hand on Brittany's forehead.

Alice knew Brittany was adept at using little tricks like such, so although her forehead was hot, she asked the maid beside her to fetch the body thermometer and put it under Brittany's armpit.

Just as Alice was about to withdraw her hand, Brittany suddenly held her arms around her, and she looked as if she was about to cry.

Alice's heart softened. She said softly, "Brittany, don't be afraid. Mommy's here."

Brittany sniffed and said in a muffled voice, "Mommy, you haven't been this kind to me for a long time."

Alice was speechless and did not know how to answer her.

Seeing that Alice was silent, Brittany's eyes suddenly turned red, and tears rolled down her cheeks. She said, "Mommy, can you always be this kind to me in the future? Don't leave me alone again..."

Alice cooed gently, "Okay, I promise. Don't cry. Otherwise, your temperature will rise."

Brittany closed her eyes and answered, "Okay. " Then, she fell asleep while holding Alice's hand.

Alice looked at her sleeping face and sighed. It was not that she did not want to be kind to Brittany, but what Brittany had done had let her down too much.

Downstairs in the living room.

Lydia was panicking. Meanwhile, Amelia who was watching TV in the living room after dinner could not help but ask, "Does she actually have a fever?"

When the words came out of Amelia's mouth, Lydia stopped punching in the phone number and replied, "Ms. Ameilia, Ms. Brittany does have a fever. Madam wants me to call the family doctor right now."

"Oh, go ahead." Amelia stopped asking and continued to watch TV.

Amelia came out of her room in a pretty dress.

It was Saturday, so she did not have to go to work. But, when she remembered that Patrick was alone in the hospital, she could not but get up early in the morning.
