Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1523

"I waited for him eagerly in that apartment But

he never showed up."

Amelia could not help asking, "He didn't keep his words?"

"Mm."

At this moment, Amelia wished that she could beat that guy up and teach him a lesson for letting Jessica down. "Then did he contact you himself and explain to you why he didn't come as he promised so?"

"No." Jessica bit her lower lips before she mumbled, "It was still me who contacted him first."

Amelia was overwhelmed by anger that she lost her words all in a sudden.

"He told me on the phone that he was caught up with something urgent. That was why he couldn't make it that Christmas. At last, he told me that he was going to deposit money into my card. That money was a gift and I could spend it as I pleased."

Amelia blasted outrageously, "How could he treat you that way?!"

"Ha! His words woke me up instantly from my fantasy. I could finally think sensibly. I began recalling the past when we spent time together only to realize one important thing. Other than the two previous occasions when he assaulted me involuntarily at the club back then, he had never touched me since then.

Looking at me instead, all this while I had been staying by his side and affording those luxurious perks that he gave me. I stayed in his apartment and enjoyed meals that he cooked. All in a sudden, I realized that I didn't have any rights to question him. At the end of the day, he owed me nothing even if he failed to keep his promise.

I was determined to support myself on my own initially. As time passed, it turned out that I had slowly become a dependent. What was more pathetic was that I didn't want to stop depending on him. Amelia, I wanted nothing but to stay by his side!" Jessica was literally bellowing for the last sentence.

Amelia's pupils constricted agitatedly. That was exactly why she refused to accept Patrick's kindness most of the time. Money was the root of all evils. Humans were all made of greed. It was much harder to resist the temptation of money once one accepted that money was his God.

At this time, Jessica's eyes were full of sorrow when she said, "When school reopened, I changed a lot. I realized that I depended heavily on him including his money.

I hypnotized myself into accepting that the money in the card was rightfully given to me by him. I had all the rights to spend it according to my wishes! Therefore, I withdrew ten thousand dollar from the card to pay for my tuition fees without hesitation.

I subsequently withdrew a dozen thousand dollar to buy new apparels for myself. I began finding pleasures through spending his money. I began convincing myself that it was him who bought me all those things..."

It was no wonder that all of them could not help but notice that Jessica's living condition was significantly improved when the second semester of third year study began. However, Jessica would tell them that she bought her apparels online from Amazon and Ebay. No one had ever doubted that.

Moreover, Jessica became more generous than ever too. Sometimes when the housemates decided to hang out together, she would propose to opt for a fine restaurant and offer to pay for everyone's bill. She would buy gifts for everyone when she returned from shopping. Those behaviors were odd enough as Jessica had never behaved such way before. Despite feeling strange towards her drastic changes, no one had ever pointed them out and asked her in her face. After all, they respected that those were Jessica's private business.

Alongside, Amelia and Jessica were not close enough to open up anything to each other back then. Therefore, she too had no idea what had resulted in Jessica's changes. Had she known what Jessica had been through, she swore that she would offer a helping hand in time when she was drowning in those mess.

Just as Amelia was caught up in her own thoughts, Jessica began saying, "Although I was mad at him for standing me up, I couldn't help but continue working as a part timer in the same coffee shop that I worked before. I was worried that he might come back at any time to look for me. It would be such a regret if he couldn't find me."

"Did he come?"

On one hand, Amelia wished that he never showed up before Jessica fell harder for him. However, at the same time, she could not help feeling sorry for Jessica had he not come to see her. After all, she knew how much that guy meant for Jessica. Had he not showed himself up, she could not imagine how disappointed Jessica was at that time.

"He came. Two months later, he showed up smiling. That was the first time I saw him like that ever since I knew to him."

"But why was he smiling?" Amelia once thought that he would never smile.

Jessica shook her head. "I had no idea. Unless he told me himself, otherwise I was not allowed to ask him with regards to his private matters. He stayed for a couple of minutes before he excused himself in a hurry. All I knew was that he wanted to go to Green Town after visiting me."

"Green Town?" Amelia thought for a moment before she said, "That's district not far away from our university."

"Yeah. So he didn't mean to pay me a visit until he happened to pass by my place. What's more, he didn't bother to disguise it too."

"At least..He never thought of cheating on your feeling." Amelia thought for some time before she finally came out with those comfort words.

Jessica placed her hand on her chest as she muttered gloomily, "Now I get even sadder after hearing you."

Panicking, Amelia subconsciously wanted to apologize. However, in the next second, she caught the glimpse of mischief in Jessica's eyes. She immediately realized that she was fooled.

"Hahaha, you're fooled by me!" Jessica stuck out her tongue mischievously.

Jessica pursed her lips before she continued, "I was just as shocked as you're now. He looked just like any of us and certainly not old enough to take care of a child. When I finally came back to my senses, I asked him if that was a child from his relatives. He didn't answer to my question."

Amelia waved her hand in disapproval, "You must be asking the obvious. Certainly it was his relative's child that he was holding. Don't tell me that you was wondering if that was a child of him and his exgirlfriend..."

At the sight of Jessica's expression getting solemn, Amelia was choked by her own words. She stammered, "Um... What's wrong, Jessica?"

"The truth was it was the child between him and his ex-girlfriend."

Amelia baffled, "Hold on... I remember his exgirlfriend abandoned him and got married with another man. In that case, that child..."

Jessica cleared up the confusion in Amelia's mind, "He was the birth father of the child. Let me put it this way, his ex- girlfriend cheated on her husband."

"Oh Lord! This sounds like a typical storyline for dramas!" Amelia exclaimed agitatedly. What she did not notice was that the last glimpse of light in Jessica's eyes dimmed out.

"I came to know about that at a much later date. At first, I thought it was a child from his relatives. At the sight of him handling the child with care and tenderness, I remember saying that he was going to make a good father next time." At this juncture, Jessica could not help sneering.

Amelia cried out, "Oh no! I remember that you adore children. Since you had no idea of who was the birth parents of the child, I bet you were helping to take care of the child throughout the summer break."

Jessica ridiculed, "That was his own child. Do you think he would let me take care of him? He hired two nannies to take care of his child 24/7. I had to ask for permission from those two nannies if I wished to come near and play with the child."

Frowning, Amelia thought for a moment before she commented, "Honestly speaking, I think that would be better for you. Imagine if you began adoring the child just to find out the truth later, I'm sure you're going to be heartbroken!"

Jessica nodded. "I got what you meant. But at that time, I was madly in love with him. He was so perfect in my eyes. He definitely qualified as a perfect life partner. If you were to ask me back then, I could enumerate a list of his strengths. He was filthy rich and handsome. He was such a good cook and he always kept his house spick- and-span. He was a loyal man, he fell hard once he loved someone. Most importantly, he adored children as much as I do. I honestly thought that I wouldn't be able to find a second man in this universe who was as perfect as him!"

Sighing, Amelia had no comments on that.

Jessica continued, "At that time, there came a voice in my head. I remember that he once told me that I was the only woman he was comfortable to be with after his ex- girlfriend. In that case, why couldn't I try to take him down myself?

I began to dress seductively and show up in front of him. I began to touch him occasionally. I began to flatter him girlishly. I even downloaded porn to the desktop that we both were using purposely. I tried my very best just to come out with a final conclusion."
