Patrick chuckled, "I didn't only buy these."
"Oh? What else did you buy?"
"I bought some travel essentials. I'll show you when we're home."
During their way home, Amelia looked out the window and began frowning. No matter how she disguised her feeling in front of Patrick, the truth was she could not help sulking after hearing what Jessica had told her earlier.
It was all due to Sissi's disloyalty towards men that resulted in both she and Jessica becoming victims respectively. Amelia was fortunate enough to fall on a luckier side. After all, she won Patrick's heart at last as time passed. Unfortunately, as for Jessica, she eventually learned Sawyer's true color at the cost of losing her own child.
"What can I do to help Jessica?" Deliberating, Amelia could not help biting her lips. There were a couple of ideas that flashed across her mind but none of them was practical.
Sawyer's beasts lived wildly on the island. As far as she could think of, a bomber was the only way capable of invading his territory without his prior notice. However, if she were to do so, the attack was going to kill countless of innocent people living on the island including Abner.
Besides, sourcing a bomber itself was a problem for Amelia. She could not possibly ask for a bomber from Patrick without arousing his suspicion.
Amelia fell into a dilemma. Feeling hopeless, she began to wonder if she had no other choice but to bring Jessica to the island herself so that she could revenge the loss of her child. Even if that was the only way possible, Amelia knew that it was completely impractical, let alone for it to be successful.
Out at the corner of Patrick's eyes, he could not help but notice that Amelia seemed distracted. His gaze darkened unnoticeably. It turned out that it was not his illusion that Amelia was having something in her mind.
He could not help wondering if Jessica had badmouthed him in front of Amelia during their meeting.
Having thought of that, Patrick tightened his grips on the steering wheel. He was exasperated to turn around and confront with Jessica right away!
At this juncture, Amelia was so caught up in her thought that she did not realize that her strange behavior had resulted in Jessica being wronged for that.
At the sight of Amelia's silence all the way, Patrick could not help snorting as he was made certain of his assumption.
On the Land of Fragrance.
After she returned home, Amelia began browsing through the travel essentials that Patrick had bought.
Inside the fully packed shopping bag, she could see a portable clothes- drying rack, selfie stick, travel kits for toiletries as well pairs of earplugs.
Amelia was no doubt impressed. She could not help but exclaim, "Mr. Hopper, what for did you buy so many things?"
Patrick was about to carry ingredients for lunch to the kitchen when he heard her question. He turned around and replied, "Amy, I bought all these for you."
Pointing a finger at herself, Amelia was bewildered, "For me?"
"Mm." Patrick began explaining the reasons behind him getting each of those items. "Having in mind that Andrew and Ashley are following this time, I can foresee that they are going to make a ton of noise. These earplugs can ensure that you get a good rest during the trip.
I know that all of you have not been to Japan before. You'd probably like to take pictures together at particular tourism attractions. A selfie stick can solve the problem if you wish to include everyone in the same picture.
As for the portable clothes-drying rack, even if we come across with bad weather in Japan, we can always hang our washed clothes to dry at night and collect them the next day. In that case there is no need for us to bring additional clothes for emergency."
Amelia was stupefied by his thoughtfulness. "Mr, Hopper, I didn't expect you to know all these. I thought.."
"What is that?" Patrick was waiting for her to finish her sentence.
Pursing her lips, Amelia finally said, "I thought that you're not someone who will pay attention to these trivial things."
Patrick replied sincerely, "They are not trivial when it comes to your need and comfort."
He did his homework before shopping for those travel essentials. Before that, he had been jotting down the lists of travel essentials summarized by those travel bloggers. Hence, he was not surprised that Amelia was impressed.
All in a sudden, Amelia muttered in frustration, "Mr. Hopper, I start feeling worried now."
Her words caught Patrick off-guard. "What are you worried of?"
"Look at you. You're handsome and you earns a fortune. Now that you begin to pick up household chores, I bet you don't need me anymore when you're trained to master everything."
Amelia was indeed dejected when she grumbled. Once upon a time, she used to be proud of her cooking skills. Nonetheless, ever since Patrick began to cook with her in the kitchen, it turned out that he was a hidden gem when it came to cooking.
The truth was she was both proud and frustrated at the same time. At the sight of his cooking skill improving drastically, she began to wonder if he was going to outshine her one day. In fact, she was not willing to be defeated by Patrick.
There was a saying that decent food could always win one's heart. She could not help but worry that she was going to be drawn to him more than ever.
What was more, he began paying attention to details and getting them sort out before she did. He literally pampered her like a Queen when all she needed was to sit back and relax!
Patrick put down the ingredients in his hands and began walking towards her. He said, "I want to be good- looking enough so that I can get your attention. I have to earn as much money as I can so that I can ensure that you and our child can afford the best in the world.
I learn to do household chores because I want to reduce your burden. All I want is turn you into the happiest wife ever, Mrs. Hopper.
You said that you're worried that I may not need you anymore after I master everything. On the contrary, the truth is it is because of you that I begin picking up those things which I had zero interest before. You're the reason that I find those things enjoyable. Do you understand?"
The next day.
Amelia was feeding a bulldog with its breakfast in the kitchen. At some point in time, she murmured, "Rick, you have to behave when you are located at your new home. You can't simply bite anything as you wish. In particular there is a baby at your new home. You must protect her well. Do you understand?"
"Woof!" Rick wagged its tail merrily as if it could understand Amelia's instructions.
Amelia could not help but carry its front limbs. She leaned forward and kissed its head before complimenting, "You're such a good boy!"
At the sight of Amelia's beautiful face which was only inches away, Rick stuck out its tongue excitedly and began licking her face.
"Hahaha! Stop it! It's itchy!" Amelia could not help giggling.
"This perverted dog! It knows how to take advantage of my woman!"
Amelia's giggles immediately attracted Patrick's attention. He was fuming when he came forward and finally saw what was going on in the kitchen.
Since they brought Rick home the day before, Amelia had since then abandoned him. She literally spent every second not with him but Rick!
She cuddled Rick when watching television. She put Rick on her laps when they had dinner. Most importantly, she hugged Rick to their bed when it was about time to sleep at night!
There was no doubt that Patrick found it intolerable!
He protested before. However, Amelia retorted by arguing that it was the last day that Rick was staying with them. Not only did she insist to hug Rick to sleep, but she also complained that Patrick was being fussy.
'How could she say I'm fussy for the sake of a dog?!"
Overwhelmed by anger, Patrick could barely sleep throughout the night. He finally made it to the morning the next day. He woke up from bed and washed up himself in a hurry. All that he was having in mind was to send that dog away as early as possible. Unfortunately, he realized that it was too late for him. That perverted dog had been licking Amelia's face when he was not around!
What was worse, none of them in fact noticed his presence as they were so caught up in having fun with each other.
Patrick reached out to the collar around Pick's neck and began carrying it away from Amelia.
All in a sudden, Pick had been dragged away from Amelia's embrace. It could not help barking in protest. In the next second, when Pick turned around and realized that it was Patrick who was lifting him, it startled for a second before wagging its tail dejectedly towards him.
Patrick snorted disdainfully at Pick. Despite so, he still reached out with another hand to support Pick's weight. That was so that he would not accidentally strangle Pick to death.
Amelia subconsciously glanced over at the direction where Pick was being lifted away. It was only then she came to notice that Patrick was at her back. All he did was staring at Pick expressionlessly.
