After being taken aback for a moment, Amelia said with a long face, "Then, can I eat it on my own?"
Seeing her shy reaction, Patrick handed over the plate and replied with a smile, "Okay, eat it yourself."
Amelia was about to let out a sigh of relief when he continued, "But, you have to stay in my arms."
"You!" Amelia could not bear it any longer and glared at him. "You're just taking advantage of me!"
Patrick responded, feigning innocence, "Amy, I didn't take off your clothes or touch your body. Don't you feel bad for accusing me?"
Amelia was irritated, and it was all because of his cheekiness!
Seeing that Amelia was fuming but unable to do anything about it, Patrick laughed before letting go of her. "Fine, I'll stop. I won't tease you anymore. The noodles are getting cold."
Amelia quickly got up from his arms and sat down on a nearby chair.
"Amy, am I a beast? Why are you avoiding me so hurriedly?" Patrick looked at her with discontent.
"Of course! You'll devour if I don't get away from you fast enough!" Amelia thought to herself.
With Amelia ignoring him, Patrick smiled and added, "I'm going to take a bath." After that, he disappeared from her sight.
Finally, Amelia was able to enjoy the noodles.
By the time Patrick came out of the shower, Amelia had fallen asleep in bed.
His gaze fell onto the table and found that the fried beef noodles were half- finished, the remaining half of it untouched. Amy must have left it for Patrick.
Patrick came to the table and sat down, warmth spreading in his chest. He picked up the chopsticks that Amelia used and ate the cold beef noodles.
The setting sun in the west cast a beautiful golden coat over Kaito's farm.
After playing with Akira and Hinata for a long while, Nora brought Ashley back to the room to take a bath and was once again dusted with baby powder. After that, with Patrick's permission, Ashley crept to Amelia's bedside.
Unlike Andrew, who was well- behaved, Ashley kicked her slippers off and climbed onto the bed all the while staring straight at Amelia.
'Aunt Amelia is sleeping so soundly." Ashley said.
Andrew replied hesitantly, "Then we'd better not disturb her."
"No way!" Ashely put her hands on her hips and said, "Hinata said the dinner party is starting at seven o'clock, and it's already six-twenty. If Aunt Amelia doesn't wake up soon, she'll be late."
"Okay." Andrew was a principled child, so he quickly corrected his previous statement, "It's not good to be late."
"Yes, it's not good to be late. So... hey! Aunt Amelia, are you awake?!"
Ashley gaped at Amelia in shock, thinking to herself, "I haven't woken her up yet, so how did she wake up? This doesn't make sense!"
Amelia reached out and touched her innocent face, answering with amusement, "You spoke so loudly. That's why I woke up."
Andrew then apologized on behalf of Ashley, "I'm so sorry, Aunt Amelia..."
"But when Daddy's asleep, he won't wake up even when I'm standing beside him and yelling at him," Ashley wondered in bewilderment.
Patrick snorted and loosened his grip on Ashley's collar. He then warned her, "Don't let this happen again."
The dinner party was held in the courtyard. There was the old-fashioned chandelier, iron fence door, a wall covering with moss, and a long, brown oak table. Under the overcasting light, many vivid foreign faces wandered around the table.
Mr. Kaito led Patrick, who had come to attend the party, to the head of the table for a drink and to chat merrily. On the other side, Amelia and Nora were treated warmly by Mrs. Kaito. As for Andrew and Ashley, they were getting along with their new friends.
The main dish was made up of an exaggerated amount of sushi and ramen while the drinks consisted of Japanese wine. Furthermore, gyozas were served as snacks and desserts included mochis. It was Amelia's first time to witness such a scene, and she could not help but immerse herself in the moment.
Suddenly, she heard Kaito's voice from a distance. Although it was a little muffled, she managed to catch some of the words. "Mr. Hopper, I know our farm is just one of the many lands that you're considering to acquire."
"But, I still have to explain to you about the advantages of our farm. As we all know, natural disaster happens in Japan every year, such as locusts invasion, storms, flood, and volcanic eruptions. The series of defending and managing the preparation and the aftermath will be a headache for you."
"However, our farm's natural geographical advantage is obvious. Except for locusts invasions, storms and floods haven't swept through this patch of land in decades, and there's not even a volcanic mountain nearby."
"The locusts are a disaster for agriculture, but for you, Mr. Hopper, they're insignificant. Also..."
Hearing Mr. Kaito listing the merits of his farm, Amelia instinctively looked at Patrick. Under the lights, he looked unconcerned, as if he was not interested in what Mr. Kaito was saying.
But, Amelia knew that Patrick had done that on purpose. He might be thoroughly satisfied with the land deep down, but he could not show it.
Otherwise, Kaito would take advantage of Patrick's good impression and flaunt or ask for more.
Kaito might not be that type of person, but when it came to personal interests, it was better to be cautious.
Seeing Patrick's indifference, the bearded young man could not help but get impatient. "Mr. Hopper, if you're willing to buy our farm, I'm willing to give you more than three hundred livestock and five hundred orchard trees for free!"
