Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1608

"Bro Richard, have you received the video of Brittany?" asked Richard as he ate breakfast.

Patrick, who was also in the middle of breakfast, replied softly, "Well done. Keep it up."

Richard gasped in a low voice, "Keep it up? I almost killed her."

To which Patrick only answered casually, "Give her a break for the meantime then."

"Okay, then I won't bother you now. I'll report to you if anything happens," said Richard.

"Okay, I'll hang up first." After the call, Patrick cast a glance at Amelia, who was so focused on eating breakfast that she did not notice what happened.

Then, Patrick considered showing her the video of Brittany. But upon second thought, he realized that it would be best not to bring up Brittany's devastating state to disrupt Amelia's mood. Moreover, he had not done any harm to Brittany physically.

With this thought in mind, Patrick gave up the idea and deleted the video that he just watched before putting his phone aside.

Ten minutes later.

Patrick put down his napkin and said to Amelia, "Amy, I'm full."

Amelia nodded. She then said to Patrick, who was about to get up to go to work, "By the way, Milton's visiting us today. Do you... mind?"

"What?" Patrick was slightly stunned. "Isn't he in England?" Patrick thought to himself.

Amelia explained, "Um, he told me on the phone last night that he's bringing Maryanne back to visit her family and that he'll visit his friends at the same time."

Patrick's expression changed slightly. Then he replied with seeming generosity, "Okay. You two should have a lot to talk about when you guys meet up."

He thought he had concealed it well, but the sourness in his words was still apparent.

Amelia stepped forward and held his hands with a hint of a smile in her bright, large eyes. "But I have more to talk about with you. Don't you think so?"

Patrick snorted. At this moment, being mature meant nothing to him at all, as shown by his childish reaction. "Amy, remember that you're married! If you dare to do anything that will hurt me, be careful that I'll..."

Then, he buried his attractive face in her neck and bit her gently.

Amelia felt helpless and told him, "All right, all right. Stop acting cute."

Act cute?

Patrick's towering figure stiffened. After he realised what he was doing, he raised his head involuntarily and muttered in a low voice, "I'm heading to work."

"Okay, I'll see you out." Amelia did not laugh at him out of tender consideration.

When they reached the door, Patrick hesitated and suddenly turned back. He said with feigned casualness, "Amy, prepare lunch for me as well."

Amelia understood what he was trying to convey. "Okay. You can go to work at ease now, okay?"

Patrick felt that she had seen through him, but he was still worried about leaving her with her childhood friend alone. What if he had bad intentions?

In the blink of an eye, it was time for Amelia's gathering with Milton. Amelia quickly served the brewed lemon tea and roasted biscuits to the living room and did not forget to prepare a plate of seasonal fruits.

Just as she had finished the preparations, the doorbell rang. So, she hurried to the door.

The second the door opened, Amelia was met with a handsome man and a pretty lady outside her small garden. Amelia welcomed Milton, but why was Maryanne with him? Milton did not mention to Amelia that Maryanne was coming as well.

But Amelia was left with no choice. Since Maryanne had come with Milton, she could only invite her into the house with a smile no matter how reluctant she was.

"Amelia!" At this moment, Maryanne thought Milton was staring at Amelia with such great yearning that he had completely forgotten about his 'official girlfriend'.

Relatively speaking, Amelia was much calmer than Milton. She stepped forward to open the fence for them, then greeted them softly, "Milton, Miss Maryanne Smith. Long time no see."

Maryanne looked back at Amelia with displeasure for a brief moment before replying, "Long time no see."

"It seems like nothing can crush this woman. No matter how hard her setbacks were, she's still so elegant and charming..." Maryanne thought.

Just as Maryanne sized up Amelia in secret, Milton was already wagging his tail at Amelia. "Amelia, this is a gift I brought to you from

England. Please accept it."

Amelia took the bag from his hand and thanked him, "Don't just stand outside. Come inside."

"Okay." Milton took a step forward with excitement, ready to catch up with Amelia. Then he suddenly realized that Maryanne was still standing next to him. So, he hurriedly added, "Maryanne, let's go in."

Maryanne was disappointed when she witnessed how Milton acted as if she was invisible to him in the presence of Amelia. But when he finally looked back at her, she smiled.

However, she did not want Amelia to pay too much attention to her hideous hands because it would only make Maryanne feel more vicious and miserable.

"Miss Maryanne Smith, are you all right? You look pale," Amelia said.

Milton looked at the woman to whom he barely paid any attention after he entered the house. He found that she was pale as a sheet and chewing her lower lip in anxiety.

He grabbed Maryanne's hand with concern and whispered, "Maryanne?"

Maryanne, who was hyperaware about her hands, pushed his hands away on instinct. When she finally came to her senses, she found she had just shoved Milton away!

Maryanne avoided Milton's eyes with a complex sentiment when she saw him staring back at her in surprise. She then said, "Excuse me. I have to go to the bathroom."

Amelia initiated as she was the hostess, "I'll bring you there."

"Okay." Maryanne did not refuse.

After the women left, Milton's expression turned sombre. One of the reasons why he had brought Maryanne over was that she requested it. But on the other hand, he also wanted to see if Maryanne knew her mistakes.

On the other side.

After Amelia led Maryanne to the washroom, Amelia was about to leave when Maryanne suddenly asked, "I heard that... you've accepted Patrick's proposal?"

"Yes," Amelia replied with indifference.

Faced with Maryanne alone, Amelia no longer had to wear a friendly smile on her face.

Maryanne looked at Amelia for a moment before saying lightly, "Congratulations."

Amelia returned her a sidelong glance. She could not tell if Maryanne was sincere about her blessing or if it was sarcasm. However, Amelia still nodded and answered, "Thank you."

Maryanne was not in a hurry to go to the toilet even after she finished speaking. So, Amelia could not help but ask, "Is there anything else?"

"That's to say..." Maryanne wanted to say something but stopped herself for a brief moment. "You and Milton won't get together?"

The look in Amelia's eyes became stern as she sombrely responded, "We would never have been together."

After a pause, Amelia put on a look of scrutiny. She then questioned, "Maryanne, you're not recording this, are you? Are you trying to trick me into telling the truth so that you can destroy my friendship with Milton when you play it to him?"
