"Retire?" Jonathan let out a wry laugh. "Perhaps I should consider it soon."

The crowd was shocked when they heard Jonathan. "Jonathan, what do you mean?"

Jonathan looked back at them and said slowly, "Did you all hear that Kaleb Ramsay has embezzled 100 million USD from the company and tried to abscond abroad?"

Jonathan had deliberately concealed the news about Kaleb's arrest. Even so, after the directors heard the first half of the story, everyone panicked, and they struggled to sit still.

Jonathan immediately followed up, "At first, Apex was decimated by the mess Daniel Phillips caused. And now, Kaleb took 100 million USD with him. I assume everyone knows what the company will end up becoming."

"No way?" Kaleb's companions whispered, "Did Kaleb actually run away with the company's 911"

"I don't think so. It's not easy for him to climb up to his position today. Why did he run away? Jonathan's probably lying to us!" "But he's made the announcement so publicly.

Jonathan took in all of their reactions. "Maybe you don't believe what I said. But it's fine. I've also invited the manager of the finance department here. He'll tell you how Kaleb has misappropriated the company's money."

After Jonathan's summon, the directors all looked at the finance manager.

The finance manager then explained to them how he had received Kaleb's call the other day and especially emphasized how Kaleb had applied for funds to 'restart the Easthern District project'. But later on, the finance manager noticed that it was a hefty sum of money. So, he reported it to Jonathan.

At this point, all the directors could not contain it any longer. They all wanted to arrest Kaleb as soon as possible and have him return the 100 million USD!

As for Kaleb's accomplices, they did not dare say a single word. They feared being blame for Kaleb's fault.

Jonathan then announced, "Calm down, everyone. I've reported to the police about this, and all we can do is wait for the police to arrest Kaleb. But all of you should be mentally prepared. Where did Kaleb escape to? When will he be arrested? How much of the 100 million USD will be left when he's caught? These are all problems that we need to assume in advance."

All the directors realized a much more severe problem as they heard Jonathan's words. "Kaleb has just run away like this. What about the Easthern District project? What about the company? What should we do?"

"These are the problems I want to discuss with you," Jonathan said with a sombre tone. "I talked to Freddy a while ago, the chief director of the Easthern District project. In fact, he had come to find Kaleb. But since Kaleb was not there, he talked to me instead. After Freddy found out that Kaleb had fled with the company's money, Freddy was so enraged and threatened to ask the government to cancel our cooperation. He even said that we have to pay the liquidated damages for the breach of the contract."

At that, all of the directors had a headache. They knew that Apex Construction Corporation had a contract with the government. Back then, Amelia was in charge. So, the government was satisfied with both the company's aspects of skills and resources.

Unexpectedly, Amelia brought Sawyer and Kaiden away with her when she left. And with that, she had already breached the bottom line of the contract.

Later on, Kaleb went begging around for help. Coupled with Freddy's pleading, the government reluctantly agreed to give the company time to raise funds.

Unexpectedly, Kaleb, that sc*mbag, ran away with the money instead of seizing the time to find the company a suitable investor!
