Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1651

When Amelia heard Alice mentioned Brittany, she shot Patrick an uneasy glance.

The next second, Patrick said calmly, "Well, considering Brittany's current state, she's unfit to attend the wedding."

Alice voiced sadly, "Yes, I've chased her out of the house since a while ago, but she hasn't even given me a call. She's such a heartless daughter, so why will I want her to come along?"

Amelia reckoned that Alice must have misunderstood as Patrick did not mean that. But forget it, Amelia did not have the courage to tell Alice the truth.

"Alas!" The sudden sadness overwhelmed Alice. "I've spoiled Brittany since she was a child, and I've been taking care of her wherever she goes. Now, she's fending for herself alone outside. I wonder how she's doing now."

Amelia glanced at Alice's concerned face and asked softly, "Alice, have you contacted her?"

Alice sobbed, "I don't dare to call her. I'm afraid that once I call her, I'll be softhearted and ask her to come back regardless of the previous immoral deeds she did. If she comes back like this, she won't remember her lesson."

"If that's the case, it's better to let her have a hard time outside and absorb her lesson," Patrick said.

Amelia was stunned by his straightforwardness. Meanwhile, Alice let out a wry smile and said, "That's true. But as parents, it's inevitable to feel bad for her."

Patrick's dark gaze then glanced over Alice. "What if she goes on another escapade without you knowing?"

Alice was shocked when she heard him. She asked, "Patrick, did Brittany cross you two again? What did she do this time? Tell me, I'll..."

Patrick responded quickly, "What will you do? Alice, you're an elder, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. But you have no idea what to do about your daughter."

"Ah... I..." Alice was taken aback and gawked at Patrick.

Patrick continued, "When she makes a mistake, you give her a lecture. But when she cries, your anger vanished. Next time when she makes a much more severe mistake, you ask her to reflect on it. But when she says something sweet to you, you forgive her again. The process happens in a cycle, and the most serious punishment you've given her is driving her out of her home.

Compared to the harm she did to Amy, your punishment is perfunctory to me."

Tears dropped from the corners of Alice's eyes. Her heart was weighted down with shame. She thought she was strict with Brittany, but it turned out it meant nothing in Patrick's yes!

Alice had been so shameless to even say she felt sorry for Brittany in front of the couple. Alice then wondered what Amelia thought about her at the moment. Did Amelia think she was partial to Brittany? But Alice truly did not mean that!

Amelia watched as Alice cried, then quickly gave Patrick a look with her eyes to indicate for him to stop. What was going on with him? He had abused Alice's daughter almost to death, but he was telling Alice about her fault?

Gathering her thoughts, Amelia held Alice's hand and comforted her, "Aunt Alice, don't listen to him..."

Alice sighed faintly. "No, Patrick's right. I've always pampered Brittany. The worst thing is that I know that, but I still can't bear to teach her a fierce lesson. At most, I've only kicked her out of the house. I thought, 'Out of sight, out of mind'."

"She's your daughter. It's normal for you to be softhearted," Amelia said gently.

"But to me, you're also my daughter. I didn't do anything for you other than feeling angry and annoyed after seeing how Brittany has framed you."

Alice then used her other hand to caress Amelia's cheek and asked sadly, "Amelia, do you think that I'm hypocritical? I'm saying one thing, but my action tells another..."

Amelia felt the temperature and tremble of Alice's hands, so Amelia smiled slightly then said, "No, you've been kind to me. In fact, to me, you've long been my mother."

At this, Alice broke down into tears. She asked apologetically, "Amelia, tell me. What did Brittany do to you?"

"Alice, you don't need to worry about it." As soon as Patrick parted his lips, Alice was stunned yet another time.

Amelia could not help but frown at Patrick. She thought to herself, "Can't he stop talking for two minutes?"

Patrick's words shattered Alice's hope. Brittany must have done something so severe to make Patrick so uncompromising. Otherwise, he was usually polite to Alice!

Alice could not help but blame herself. "It's my fault for not teaching Brittany properly. It's my fault... All my fault..."

After glancing at Alice who was still immersed in guilt, Amelia helplessly withdrew her gaze and left the ward with Patrick.

'Amy."

Amelia remained silent.

"Amy, listen to my explanation."

"I won't listen to no b*stard!" Amelia thought in fury.

"Amy!" Patrick raised his voice and grabbed Amelia by her wrist, which made it impossible for her to go anywhere.

"Why?" Amelia, who wanted to wait until they got home, finally blurted out the question under his obstruction.

"Visit my father?" A hint of surprise jumped into Amelia's eyes. If she had remembered correctly, the Simmons family had never cared about the Ramsay Family ever since Petty's death.

"Yes." Rebecca continued, "Derrick, he..."

Derrick then let out a hard cough.

Rebecca immediately changed the subject and hurriedly said, "No! It's me! I haven't seen your father for a long time. And after heard about your father's illness, we wanted to come and visit him."

"I see." After Amelia tidied her hair, she said lightly, "My father can't speak yet. I'm afraid he can't talk to you guys."

Amelia was not to be blamed for saying this. The Simmons family had been too cruel over the years, and Amelia was afraid that they were here to provoke George. George's illness was getting better, so Amelia did not want to cause any other trouble.

The Simmons family was not angry at Amelia's rejection. In fact, they did not have the right to be mad. "We promise that we're here for only a visit. We won't disturb him for too long."

"Over the years, you've always ignored my father. Later, when he's sick in bed, none of you has shown up either. I think my father has been accustomed to the ways of the Simmons family. You don't have to do this now."

The Simmons family's expression faltered after they heard her words. Rebecca then said faintly, "We know our faults now. The Simmons family has misunderstood your father these many years. We came here with sincerity. Can you please... don't shut us out?" "Why?" Amelia looked at them coldly. "Why should

I let my father see you when you finally realize your mistake? Mr. Simmons, don't forget that you've exposed that I'm not from the Ramsay Family. My father has hidden this matter for more than 20 years, but now everyone knows it. Aren't you ashamed to see my father?"

Derrick's face turned pale with the words. After a pause, he glared at Amelia and spat, "Let's go!"

Rebecca was stunned. "Derrick?"

Derrick stamped his cane on the ground and called out in a heavy voice, "Let's go!"

"Okay, okay, okay... Well go now. Don't get angry..." Rebecca then gave her husband a look. They each held Derrick's arm and turned around, then left with bitterness.

At their departure, Patrick cast his eyes downwards and found that Amelia was displeased.

He could not help but tighten his grip on her waist in return. "Amy, don't worry about those irrelevant people."

"Mr. Hopper, am I being too ruthless?" Amelia leaned on his shoulder with her eyes still staring into the distance.

Patrick kissed her forehead and said, "No. It's their fault from the beginning."
