"Sawyer, why aren't you saying anything?"
Sissi's grip on Sawyer's hand tightened. Even though she was not satisfied with his calm reaction, her voice was gentle when she said, "Don't you agree with me?"
"I do," replied Sawyer in a low and hoarse voice.
"Then..." Sissi looked delighted and immediately added, "You'll help me, right?"
Her last sentence inadvertently revealed her true thoughts. It turned out she had said all of those motivating words to only have Sawyer revenge for her.
But what about Sawyer? Where was he in her heart?
Through her dark eyes, Sawyer tried his best to find his place within her, but what he found was only her loathing for Amelia and her pain of loving another man that she could not be with.
As a result, the fury in Sawyer rose to another degree. To prevent exploding from rage in front of Sissi, Sawyer restrained himself and broke free of her hold. Then, he turned around to leave.
"Sawyer!" Sissi wrapped her arms around his waist from behind and pressed her graceful figure against his back. "Did I say something wrong? Did I make you angry?"
Sawyer slightly stiffened his back in her hold. Then, he said with suppressed anger, "Sissi, I'm not an idiot."
Sissi showed a confused expression as she heard his words. She did not know what she said that upset Sawyer. After thinking about it, she said, "Sawyer, you're the one who mentioned Patrick first."
"That's right. I brought him up first." In an angle that Sissi could not catch, Sawyer put on an indifferent expression. "But your reaction made me regret even mentioning him."
Sissi frowned and recalled her conversation with Sawyer. Finally, she realised the problem. So, it turned out that Sawyer was jealous.
Sissi then wrapped her hands around his waist and spun to face him. She raised her head and looked at Sawyer as she said, "Sawyer, you know I love you. You're all I have now."
Sawyer's eyes drooped down, and his deep gaze could make anyone shudder. He replied, "Do you love only me? Or do you only love me because I'm all you have left?" "Of course, it's because you're the only one I love!" Sissi ignored her conflicted feelings for Patrick temporarily and concentrated on comforting Sawyer. "Abner is the best proof. If I don't love you, he wouldn't have been born at all."
At the mention of Abner, Sissi could feel Sawyer's tight muscles relaxing, which pleased her discreetly.
Then, Sawyer suddenly held Sissi's face with his hands and lowered his head. Their breaths intertwined for a moment before he spoke, "Listen, Sissi. Don't forget what you said, and don't go back on your words! I've already tolerated you missing Patrick countless times, but this is the last time. If there's a next time..."
Sawyer did not continue. After that, he kissed on Sissi's slightly trembling red lips, somewhat venting his anger.
Sissi's heart was overfilled with sweetness and misery in an instant. Sawyer was jealous of Patrick, but he also seemed to have lost patience with her. He had never warned her so sternly before.
"Hmm!"
Right then, Sissi let out a cry of pain. But Sawyer continued to lock her in his arms and kissed her without a care.
When Sawyer parted from Sissi's lips, his mind had cleared up a little. At the same time, he noticed that he had bitten her lips. He felt slightly apologetic for it and rushed to the bathroom to gently wipe her mouth with her towel.
Sissi knew that Sawyer was mad, so even if she felt wronged, she stood and let him wipe her mouth.
Back then, she would blame him even if she was not angry. But after the quarrel, she dared not to do that again.
"Sorry. I didn't realize it," Sawyer said after he put down the towel.
His calm eyes added a touch of affinity to him, which relieved Sissi from the last trace of discomfort in her heart. "It's fine. I know you couldn't help it."
Her words had given Sawyer a leeway, even though they both knew that there was no warmth in the kiss. It was more of a form of venting.
Sawyer stared at the wound on Sissi's lips. Although he had wiped it, there was still blood. He could not help but say, "I'll get the doctor to bring you some medicine."
Sissi parted her lips and wanted to make him stay, but she accidentally tore the wound. The pain then made her hiss.
At this, Sawyer knew he had to go. So, he quickly walked out of the room and looked for the doctor.
Sissi watched his back until he disappeared from her sight, then averted her gaze and leaned in front of the mirror to inspect the wound carefully. She was afraid that it would ruin her beauty.
But in the next second, she felt a surge of joy. Sawyer had accidentally bit her. So, he must feel more guilt than anger. Which meant that, in the following time, all she needed to do was to enjoy his endless doting.
With such a thought in mind, Sissi did not wipe the blood off her lips on purpose and waited for Sawyer to care for her. However, the doctor was the only one who came back to her.
"Where's Sawyer? Where did he go?" Sissi asked with displeasure.
She had never been nice to this group of accompanying doctors. In her opinion, she would not have suffered a miscarriage if it were not for their lacking medical skills!
While Wayne was enjoying tea, the doorbell rang.
Wayne's movement froze midway when he was picking up the teacup, and the smile on his face disappeared. He looked at Amelia out of panic, "Amelia, did Bro Patrick get off work early?"
Amelia tilted her head and shrugged. "I don't know. I'll open the door first. You can continue to drink."
Wayne stood up faster than Amelia could and looked like he was trying to escape. "No, no, no! Amelia, quickly! Find a place for me to hide! If Bro Patrick finds out that I came in without his permission, he'll kill me!"
Amelia calmly assured him, "First of all, you're here to send me a letter from Jessica. Secondly, I invited you in to have tea. Lastly, if you hide, we'll then really look like we're having an affair."
Her arguments were so logical that Wayne could not refute her.
"Sit down and wait." After she finished, Amelia got up and walked to the door.
No wonder Amelia was Bro Patrick's woman. She could speak and act with irrefutable courage.
While Wayne's mind whirled, he picked up the cup and sipped the tea to calm himself down.
Outside the door.
When Amelia saw the elder standing at the entrance of the garden, astonishment flashed across Amelia's eyes as she wondered why Rebecca Simmons was here.
Rebecca then waved at Amelia with a smile on her face with an affable air to her.
Behind Rebecca was her driver, whose arms were carrying gifts that Rebecca had brought for Amelia.
Although this was not the first time they had met each other, Rebecca might have been kind to Amelia when Amelia was younger. But because of Petty's death, they did not meet each other for the next dozen years.
However, their last two meetings did not end on a pleasant note. Rebecca came to accuse Amelia during their first meeting. And on the second time, Amelia had completely rejected Rebecca at the hospital. So, Rebecca had come fully prepared this time. She hoped their conversation would not deteriorate.
When Amelia approached her, the smile on Rebecca's face grew broader, which confused Amelia a little.
It felt like a creditor being friendly to the debtor as Amelia still owed shares to the Simmons family.
