Amelia, who was praised for being kind-hearted, sipped on her tea. She had stated that she would only do that if Eve was to go to the wedding to congratulate her and Patrick with sincerity. Eve might not want to know what would happen if she acted otherwise.
In the evening, Florence personally sent Amelia back to Land of Fragrance.
"I'm so happy today!" Florence put one hand behind her back and shook her backpack with the other hand. "Patrick, she's all yours now. Bye!"
Patrick then put his arm around Amelia's shoulder and nodded at Florence.
Amelia leaned on Patrick's chest and reminded Florence, "Be careful on the your way back."
After Florence left, Amelia heard Patrick groan, "Weird."
Amelia blinked and looked up at Patrick. "What's wrong?"
Patrick remembered the phone call from Florence from the previous day and thought the difference in her mood had changed too dramatically.
He could not help but ask, "Amy, what did you guys talk about this afternoon?"
Amelia answered honestly, "Florence has persuaded your mother to come to our wedding on the 20th."
Patrick lowered his voice. "That's impossible."
"I also think that it's impossible." Amelia shrugged. "But Florence said she did it, and I can't discourage her, can I?"
"Anything else?"
"Nope."
Patrick fell into silence after Amelia finished.
Amelia could not help shaking him and asked, "Mr. Hopper, what are you thinking about?"
"I'm wondering if I should strengthen the security on that day," Patrick replied frankly.
Amelia could not help but laugh.
When it was close to half-past six, Owen delivered good news. Kaleb had finally admitted to killing Yancie and discarding her body. This sent a chill down Amelia's heart, but at the same time, she heaved a huge sigh of relief.
With the evidence on the USB and the recording, as well as Fiona as a witness under witness protection, Kaleb could never turn the situation around.
"He broke down," said Owen.
"Under your interrogation, it's hard for anybody not to break down. He has persisted for long enough," Patrick said.
"I'll take that as a compliment." After a pause, Owen turned to Amelia and asked gently, "Amelia, can you rest assured now?"
Amelia replied, "Yes! He's so cunning and terrifying. I was always worried that he'll continue doing whatever he wants after his release. But now, he's getting the conviction of combined punishment for several crimes, which means he can no longer escape. The law is on the right side of justice!"
"That's right." Owen agreed with Amelia's statement and looked at Patrick. "Patrick, learn from Amelia. Don't lynch to solve all of your problems. I don't want to put you in handcuffs one day."
Owen's words frightened Amelia instead of Patrick. She quickly tugged on Patrick's arm and said, "He's right."
Patrick frowned slightly, then reached out to smooth Amelia's head. "No. He'll cover for me."
Owen replied fiercely as he heard this, "Next time, you'll see if I'll act partially!"
Patrick looked back at Owen and said in a coaxing tone, "Well, then stay for dinner tonight. Amy and I will cook you your favorite food."
Owen's hungry stirred. "All right then!"
Amelia was speechless.
Did Owen not just say that he would not be partial?
Owen left after he ate and drank to his heart's content in the living room.
Amelia was thinking about what to do next when she heard Patrick say, "Amy, go upstairs and pack your luggage. We're taking wedding photos tomorrow."
Amelia asked, "Where are we going?"
Patrick looked down at her and replied, "Maldives."
"Ah?" Amelia was surprised. "I thought we're taking the photos in Northville."
Patrick knew what she was worried about. "Don't worry. This time, there's be a photography team coming with us. We won't find ourselves at a loss." "Okay." Amelia looked at Patrick with her eyes filled with reliance. "I'm grateful to have you."
Patrick enjoyed her admiration. So, he could not help but peck her again and again.
Before the scene escalated further, Amelia held his hand. With the rouge flush on her face, she muttered, "I have to go to pack my luggage."
Patrick suppressed the urge to pin Amelia under his body right there and then. After that, he carried her up from the sofa and said devilishly, "You just reminded me that the king-size bed upstairs is more comfortable."
Amelia saw the determination in Patrick's eyes, and the redness on her face spread to the arch of her ears. She had no choice but to say, "We have to go to bed early tonight too."
However, Patrick misinterpreted her words. "Yes, so well have to make full use of our time."
Amelia gasped. She responded bluntly, "Can I say no?"
Patrick flashed her a sly smile. "You'll go to sleep easier after the 'activity'."
"But I haven't taken a bath yet," Amelia replied as if implicating that she would stink Patrick.
Patrick replied in an alluring voice, "I'm speaking from the bottom of my heart."
"Well, then, you're very handsome too." After finishing tying the tie, Amelia helped Patrick to tidy his collar and buttoned up his shirt. She did not want him to expore half of his chest to other women.
Looking at her possessive strait, Patrick secretly sighed at how rare was that sight to behold. Also, the only woman he wanted to seduce was the woman standing in front of him.
"Done." Finally, Amelia patted him on the chest and felt his muscles.
Patrick saw through her thoughts and raised his eyebrows at her. "It feels good, doesn't it?"
"Hmph. Not bad." Amelia did not want him to feel too proud.
"Indeed, but it doesn't feel as good as yours," added Patrick as he glanced at her chest.
Amelia, who was teased, restrained her shyness and waved her hand. "Get out of my way. I'm getting up."
A moment later, Patrick's voice that was laced with pleasantness passed through the bathroom door and sounded in Amelia's ear while she washed her face. "Amy, I've picked a dress for you and put it on the bed. Also, I'm bringing the luggage down first."
Amelia was touched by his thoughtful actions and replied, "Okay."
When she came out of the bathroom, she saw a V-neck dress and a translucent coat with a long sleeve on the bed, which was enough to cover her exposed arms and collarbones.
Amelia put on the dress without any objection. After that, she wore the coat and out on light makeup in front of the vanity. Then, she headed downstairs.
Downstairs.
At Amelia's approaching enchanting figure, Patrick immediately went to get her some porridge. Anybody would fall in love with such attentiveness.
After Amelia strode over, she could not help hooking her arms around his neck. While she pulled his face downwards, she tiptoed and kissed the corner of his mouth.
Patrick suddenly held his breath. Just as he tried to deepen the kiss, he heard Amelia smile and say, "A morning kiss."
Then, she gently pushed him away and sat down.
Patrick rubbed his fingertips and looked desolate.
Glancing at the faint lipstick mark on the side of his lips, Amelia could not help but remind him, "Mr. Hopper, wipe your mouth."
Patrick stared at the breakfast in confusion. "But I haven't eaten anything yet."
"I mean..." Amelia pointed to the corner of her lips and said, "There's a lipstick mark on your lips."
Subconsciously, Patrick reached out to touch it. It still felt soft, which gave him a rush of pleasure. "But I want to keep it."
Amelia was taken aback. "I can't do anything to you."
