Come To Me (Amelia and Patrick) novel Chapter 1685

"No need..." Maryanne subconsciously rejected.

At the critical moment, Sierra stood up. "Maryanne, just do Aunt a favor and let Milton take you to the door, okay?"

Maryanne had no choice but to nod and quickly walk in front after holding her shoulder bag.

While Milton gave a thumbs up to Sierra behind and then caught up with Maryanne.

Maryanne felt awkward and nervous as he stared at her all the way. For several times, she wanted to ask him to stay away from her. But as she looked up, she found that she was almost at the door. So she thought it would be better to quickly put on her shoes and leave.

When she supported herself on the wall with one hand and adjusted her shoelace with the other, she suddenly slipped a little as she was standing unsteadily...

Just as she was about to make a fool of herself, Milton reached out and caught her in time.

At the moment, Maryanne's awkwardness was of same value as Milton's happiness.

He had even wanted to cheer out loud when he

saw Maryanne slip by accident.

Meanwhile, he held her waist that had become thinner and stared at her face closely. He felt that the missing part of his heart was slowly filled up.

After Maryanne recovered, she immediately reached out and pushed him. However, he had held her too tightly, so she had to say, "You can let me go now."

Milton did not let her go, but held her even tighter instead.

His action finally provoked her anger. "Are you a rogue or deaf? Didn't you hear that I asked you to let me go?!"

"Maryanne..." He lowered his head and looked into her eyes, which were glaring out of anger. He said pitifully and affectionately, "Are you still not willing to forgive me at all?"

Such a close distance made Maryanne's heart race a little. But she remained expressionless as she chided, "Stop talking to me. I'm not that familiar with you. Let me go!"

"No." Milton was like a child who failed to receive candy on Halloween. He pestered, "You sent yourself to me. Why can't I hold you?"

"Don't talk nonsense!" Maryanne quickly defended. "I'm here to see Aunt Sierra. It has nothing to do with you! If you don't believe me, you can ask Aunt Sierra whether I have called her in advance. I came only after confirming that you're not here!" Unexpectedly, Milton gave an irrelevant reply, "Maryanne, you've lost weight."

Maryanne was silent for a moment.

"Is it because you missed me too much?"

Maryanne became speechless.

"In fact, I have lost weight as well. If you don't believe me, you can give it a touch."

As his voice fell, Milton directly held Maryanne's right hand and put it on his face.

Through her glove, Maryanne could feel the warmth and touch of his skin. It was once an unreachable wish of hers, as well as a pity that she had hardly refrained herself to get close to...

Wait, what was she thinking about?!

Just as Maryanne was in a hurry to break free of his grip, Milton mightily grabbed her hand and went all the way to his waist. "I've been thinner here too. The curve on my waist wasn't this deep in the past."

"Enough!" She gritted her teeth and stared at him, while still insisted on emphasising, "Stop playing dumb to avoid the problem. Let me go!"

However, her anger only caused Milton to blink innocently in return. "But you used to like to touch me all over."

Maryanne was enraged. "But I no longer like it now!"

As she said that, she stepped heavily on his foot, which made him hiss in pain—

She finally pushed him away after seizing the chance. She knew that she should not stay any longer. Otherwise, the handsome face in front of her would tempt her to make foolish decisions again!

But when she was about to leave, Milton caught up with her indomitably. "You can't do this to me. How could you simply leave after stealing my heart?"

Maryanne stumbled, "... You should have a good think that who's the true love liar!"

Milton explained quickly, "I admit that the love game was initiated by Patrick and me in the beginning. But later, I gave my all to you. Maryanne... I'm the loser."

His words slightly tugged at Maryanne's heartstrings, but it could yet move her completely. "If it's out of guilt that you said as such..."

Milton could not wait to interrupt, "I indeed feel guilty for you! But not to the point that would mess my mind in confusing with the feeling of 'love'!"

Maryanne paused for a moment before looking at him with a faint smile. "Is it because Amelia and Patrick are married that you come back to me as your bench?"

Milton almost went crazy after he heard her words,. "Why would you look down on yourself? I've never put you on the bench!"

Maryanne shrugged and said self-deprecatingly, "Well yeah, you've always treated me as your enemy instead."

Milton was frustrated, "Maryanne, could you stop misinterpreting my words?"

Maryanne smiled, but with a hint of sorrow. "Milton, for whom did you stay here?"

Milton was stunned.

"You've never returned to the UK branch company since Amelia's wedding with Patrick became a mess, right?"

Milton immediately sensed the trouble coming. "I, I can explain!"

Maryanne gave him a "stop" gesture. "Although I'm not clear with the details of the wedding, there's one thing that I know. As long as it concerns Amelia, you'll lose all your principles."

"Don't send me off." After saying that, she opened the door in front of her and walked out without looking back.

Watching Maryanne's back getting further away, a voice rang out from Milton's heart.

"Enough!" Maryanne could not bear to listen anymore. She stepped forward and said to the driver, "This guy is crazy. Let's leave now."

"Okay!" The driver answered loudly, and then struck a pose like a bodybuilder to Milton. While Milton showed his middle finger in return.

As soon as she got on the car, the phone in Maryanne's shoulder bag rang.

Maryanne thought it was a call from Hobart. But when she took out her phone to take a look, she found that it was from Milton.

She turned around subconsciously and saw Milton standing on the spot watching her through the car window.

He could not help but point at the phone next to his ear, looking eager as he saw that she was turning back.

They were parting further as the car was moving, but his facial features were getting clearer in her eyes.

For some unknown reason, she answered his call.

In a split second, she heard his alluring voice slowly ringing in her ear. "Maryanne, I started to miss you although it's only been a few seconds since we parted."

Maryanne's heart raced. In a panic, she hung up the phone and held back her head, not looking at him anymore.

"Miss, are you hot?"

The driver at the front asked considerately, not knowing that he was airing Maryanne's dirty laundry.

Maryanne's eyes flickered, obviously not fully recovered yet.

Until the driver asked again, she raised her head and looked at him somewhat sillily.

"Miss, your face is very red."

Out of concern, the driver specially adjusted the rearview mirror for her to take a look.

Soon Maryanne realized that...

It was really...

So red.

As for Milton who was left behind, he regretfully put down his phone. How he had wished to hear Maryanne's response, even if she would curse at him. Did she really hate to talk to him?

Just as he fell into self-doubt, the lady was in huge panic after his tease without his knowing.

At the Home of Smith.

Maryanne, who had just got out of the car, felt her brother getting in front of her in a flash.
