With such a thought, Sawyer accepted.
"Let's go." he said.
Amelia answered, "Eh? But I haven't finished reading the book yet. I'm almost done. How about you call me when you're done..."
She immediately changed her words as she saw the unhappy expression on Sawyer's face, "Or, you can ask someone to call me, okay, brother?"
Her calling "brother" softly eased Sawyer's expression, and he put on a hypocritical smile, "Fine, you can take your time to read here. I'll inform you when I'm done preparing lunch."
"Alright." Amelia responded with a smile in return.
When it was close to 1 p.m., Sawyer appeared again. At the moment, the sunlight was shining on Amelia's eyelashes through the window. As she blinked her eye, it was as if golden glitters were falling.
On her left hand, there was the book Jane Eyre which was on the last page. She was leaning her upper body forwards while reaching out to gently touch the leaves of the Rosemary on the table, looking full of interest.
Sawyer gathered his thoughts and said, "Seems like you've already finished reading the book?"
Amelia heard him and slowly turned her head. Her beautiful face was almost next to the petal of the Rosemary, but she looked even prettier than it.
"Yes." She nodded first and then asked, "Is lunch ready?"
Sawyer nodded, "Please come with me."
Amelia packed up the book and ceramic cup as she straightened up with a smile on her face. In Sawyer's eyes, the action naturally added to his good impression.
Just as the two walked out of the library side by side, Amelia suddenly grabbed his right hand, lifted it in front of her and began to study it.
In the face of her sudden "insult", Sawyer was so close to counterattacking. He asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
Amelia took his right hand close to her nose and started to sniff at it.
Was she a puppy?
Sawyer thought strangely.
After a few sniffs, Amelia slowly put down his hand and stuck out her tongue at him. "I'm checking if you've been lazy."
Sawyer then raised his right hand and sniffed it under his nose as well. There was a faint cooking smell and he suddenly understood what was going on. He asked, "Have you got your results?"
Looking at his half-smiling eyes, Amelia acted to be distressed and said, "Aww, what should I do? I was not feeling hungry just now, but I'm suddenly starving after smelling your hand..."
How fawning!
No matter how Sawyer tried to stay calm, the corners of his mouth curled into a smile.
He had been used to Amelia's firm and determined state. So he felt fresh when she acted to be sweet to the heart.
When she followed Sawyer to the dining table, Amelia discovered that he had actually prepared five dishes and one soup. For the two of them, the meal was truly a bit too sumptuous.
"Do we have any other guests?" she asked.
"No, why do you ask that?"
Amelia pretended to be surprised. "I just didn't expect you to spend so much effort for me. So I thought... you invited someone to have lunch together."
In fact, it was obviously impossible. Although Amelia had become Sawyer's sister, she was still his captive in reality. Sawyer had wished to isolate her from the outside world, so how would he let others see her?
Amelia had only said so just to flatter him.
And the results seemed to be pretty good. At the very least, Sawyer showed a gentle smile on his face, "As you're my sister, you deserved for me to put in so much effort for you."
Just as Amelia was considering whether she should hold her breath to make herself blush, Sawyer suddenly helped her pull out a chair and said like a gentleman, "Please have a seat."
So Amelia smiled at him sweetly and sat down.
While Sawyer sat across from her.
Not long after they started to dig in, there suddenly came a phone ring from the side of Sawyer.
Amelia glanced at him and found that he was staring at the phone screen with a slightly strange expression.
However, she did not ask anything but lowered her head and continued to drink her soup.
"I'll take a call."
The next moment, Sawyer spoke to her, with a faint sense of impatience.
Amelia was drinking soup, so she mumbled as a reply, "Alright".
After Sawyer got up and left his seat, Amelia then pretended to turn around inadvertently. Yet he had gone far away from her, that she had no chance of eavesdropping to his conversation at all.
So Amelia turned back and fiercely munched a piece of meat, secretly praying that the person who called Sawyer was the one she was thinking of!
Sawyer walked all the way to the balcony. Only then did he press the answer button and shout in a low voice, "Sissi."
Amelia remembered that he also had a straight face when treating Abner. She could not help but say, "You should really smile more. You look good when you smile."
"I don't need to look good." Sawyer frowned. "What I need is majesty, so those who work for me will listen to me."
Amelia took the opportunity to ask, "Why would you choose to be involved in drug trafficking?"
"To make money." Sawyer's reply was dull.
"When did you start doing them?"
"After graduating from college."
"I see..." Amelia nodded. "You're really different. Unlike me, I started to work in a company like all others as soon as I graduated. It took me several years to reach the position of the director of a department from a small staff member."
Sawyer glanced at her, "That's why you're less promising than me."
Amelia felt like pinching him again.
Sawyer then changed the topic, "But don't worry, from now on, what belongs to me will belong to you."
When Sawyer returned to his residence with Sissi along the sunset, a slipper suddenly flew over and smashed in front of him.
Sawyer's gaze turned cold as Sissi, who was wearing a silk nightgown, walked over angrily. "Why would you still come back?"
"This is my home. If I don't come back here, where else should I go?" Sawyer's casual words suddenly stunned Sissi.
But soon, she began to ask again, "Why, why didn't you answer my phone?" Not only had he not answered, he had even directly turned off his phone!
"I had something to do at that time." Sawyer had always spoken in a calm manner, without a trace of guilt or panic in his voice.
"You can simply tell me about it on the phone! I won't bother you either!" Sissi said angrily.
"You won't bother me?" Sawyer seemed to have heard a joke. "As soon as I'm gone, you'll start to be suspicious, or even make a fuss. How would I believe your words?"
It was the first time Sissi had been so openly disdained by Sawyer. Yes, she thought it as a disdain as she would never find fault with herself.
"Shall you be tired of me?"
She asked, being both angry and fearful.
Sawyer glanced at her up and down. All he could see was her sensitive and hysterical appearance.
