"How can he do this..." Sissi put her hand to her forehead and cried out in agony. "I didn't do that on purpose... I really didn't!"
"Don't cry, Ms. Roberts. It's not your fault!"
"No! It's my fault. If it weren't for me, Sawyer wouldn't be..."
Under the expectant gaze of the officer, Sissi suddenly stopped and asked, "Officer, please let me meet him. Please!"
The officer hesitated for a moment before she said, "How about this? I'll report this to my leader. If he agrees, I'll let you meet him."
Sissi bit her lower lip. "Your leader is Owen Hopper, right? He's the one who arrested Sawyer. He won't let me meet him."
The policewoman then cracked a sly smile and said, "Officer Hopper is my leader, but this is the police station. So, the station's chief director's words hold the most weight. I can help you ask the chief director in secret and make sure that Officer Owen doesn't know about this. Is that fine?"
At the sound of that, Sissi could not help but shed tears of gratitude. "Thank you, officer!"
"There's no need to thank me. After all, I don't think someone as gentle and pretty as you would cooperate with that kind of criminal to kidnap anybody. Don't worry, I'll try my best to help you."
The officer then smiled sweetly and continued, "Okay, don't cry anymore. The breakfast is getting cold. Eat up. I'll talk to the chief for you."
"Okay, then I'll leave it to you. I'll wait for your news!" At this moment, the policewoman was like an angel in Sissi's eyes, which gave her an unconscious instict to want to believe her.
After the officer close the door to the lounge, the smile on her face immediately fell sombre.
First, she went to Owen and retold Sissi's words to him. Then, she listened to Owen's instructions and went to the chief's office to apply for an permission for Sissi to meet Sawyer.
Half an hour later.
The officer pushed open the door of the lounge with a smile and called out to Sissi, who had already finished breakfast, "Why did you only eat so little? The breakfast from that restaurant is famous. I have to queue up for a long time to buy them."
Sissi lowered her head as she heard this and quickly glanced at the rest of the items in the bag but only felt a surge of discomfort in her mouth and stomach. She was not used to eating these things having been fed by Sawyer with all kinds of delicacies.
But she could not admit it outright, so she had to say, "I... don't have that much of an appetite."
The officer did not miss the faint dislike and disdain on Sissi's face, and she could not help sneering in her heart.
Someone as high and almighty as Sissi was down-and-out to become even more inferior than a common folk!
Sissi had lost everything, but she had an attitude that everyone should suit her needs, which was irritating!
If it were not for the sake of completing the mission that Owen had given her, the officer would have long since taken the handcuffs off her waist and handcuffed Sissi. Sissi would then be locked up in jail with Sawyer in the 'twin dorms'!
However, this was not the right time.
So, the officer maintained her best affable demeanour and said to Sissi, "I know why! You must be thinking about Sawyer, right?"
Sissi nodded.
So, the policewoman continued, "Guess what? I just went to our chief to report your quest. Do you know what he said?"
"Did... Did he agree?" Sissi looked at the officer nervously, and even her breathing slowed down.
Sawyer stared into Sissi's eyes and said slowly, "Sissi, I need you to do two things for me. First, find Savannah and tell her that I'm in trouble."
"Secondly, hire a lawyer for me. Tell the lawyer that my sister was brainwashed and taken away by the Hopper family, and they even slandered me for kidnapping her. I want to sue them!"
Sissi was dumbfounded when she heard this. She did not expect that Sawyer would not admit that he had kidnapped Amelia!
"Sawyer, isn't that unconvincing? You have to know that you kid..."
Under Sawyer's gaze, which suddenly darkened, Sissi knew what Sawyer wanted to do, "You took away Amelia first, only then you...”
"Stop." Sawyer frowned and interrupted, "If you want to make up for your mistake, then do as I say."
Sissi clasped the microphone in her hand tightly, affected and hurt by Sawyer's remark.
At the sight of this, Sawyer suddenly eased up and said, "Sissi, you're the only one who can exonerate me now. Are you willing to help me?"
"Yes!" Sissi put her other hand on the glass and expressed with sincerity, "As long as you're willing to forgive me, I can do do anything!"
Ten minutes after.
The officer reappeared behind Sissi. After she glanced at Sawyer, she whispered to Sissi, "Ms. Roberts, time's up. We should leave." Sissi turned around and nodded at the officer to show that she heard her. Then, she turned back and said to Sawyer with reluctance, "Sawyer, I'll come to visit you next time!"
"Hmm." After Sawyer returned Sissi a smile, he put the microphone back to its position so that the officer could not nit-pick with him even if she wanted to.
Sissi was completely lost in his smile. Sawyer had not treated Sissi well ever since the incident. So, if Sissi could rescue him from behind the bars, she would have made up for her mistake!
