Tyler leaned back slightly and twirled his pen. “I never said it was you, so why are you in such a rush to defend yourself?”

Only then did Yale realize he might have reacted too hastily. He quickly recovered.

“Apologies, Mr. Hunt. I was too anxious. I just didn’t want you to misunderstand me.”

Tyler’s gaze locked onto Yale. The depth in them was like an abyss. One wrong step, and he’d be lost

forever.

“Yale, you’ve worked at my side for many years. You know my character, and you know exactly what I

hate most.”

“Yes, Mr. Hunt. I understand.”

Tyler didn’t want to keep beating around the bush. “This is your last chance. However you answer now, I won’t bring it up again. But I want you to think carefully.”

The whole night felt like a rollercoaster ride to Yale, and being forced to choose at this moment was a

nightmare.

But if his sacrifice could help Tyler survive this crisis, then maybe it was worth it.

With that thought in mind, he found courage again. He straightened his back and spoke firmly.

“Mr. Hunt, no matter how many times you ask, my answer is the same: This has nothing to do with me, and even less with Ms. Lloyd. From the moment we left the apartment, I’ve been by her side. I never once left her sight. And if you suspect the two of us are working together, that’s impossible. What would we even gain from that? What purpose would it serve?”

Tyler didn’t reply. He simply listened, then, after a pause, chose not to press further.

“Stay here and continue assisting with the investigation. I’m going home.”

“Mr. Hunt, then what about the project?” Yale asked carefully.

“If nothing else is wrong with it, it can move forward.”

“Yes!” Yale nearly burst out cheering.

Whatever the truth, as long as the outcome was in their favor, that was all that mattered. Since the

“Ms. Lloyd, the plan worked. Mr. Hunt said if no issues are found after further checks, the project can go

ahead.”

Rachel finally sighed in relief. “In that case, that’s wonderful. Our efforts weren’t wasted.”

“But there’s a problem, and it’s a serious one. Mr. Hunt insists on meeting the project’s representative. That means he still suspects something.”
