“She even gave our boss some money. Did you see how wide the smile on his face was? He usually looks at us as though we’re his enemies, and he’s always irritated by anyone who crosses his path. But today, he even invited us to supper after work!”
“Really? Goodness, this is amazing! I’m telling you, I work like a horse every day. I don’t even have time for supper.”
“Exactly. The question is, why did that lady do that? I don’t quite understand.”
“Perhaps her husband was drinking with another woman in our bar, but she’s too embarrassed to search for him room by room, so that was the only thing she could do.”
“That makes sense.”
Somehow, Rachel popped into Tyler’s mind. That was just a feeling, however. Logically speaking, he
knew Rachel wouldn’t do that.
They had been intimate, and he had made clear his intentions to make things official between them.
Yet, she was still hesitant.
Tyler navigated to Rachel’s photo on his phone and flashed it to the waiter. “Hey, is this the lady you’re talking about?”
The waiter took a good look at Rachel’s photo and nodded. “Yes, that’s her. Do you know her, sir?”
His colleague immediately bumped him, and realization dawned upon him.
As it turned out, this man was the one the lady was checking on. Indeed, handsome men are all trouble. They would never be loyal to just one woman.
A smile stretched across Tyler’s face; he pulled out two banknotes from his wallet and handed them to
the waiter.
“Thanks.”
The waiter was stunned as he stared at Tyler’s retreating figure, the two banknotes still in his hands.
“That man is so strange. Shouldn’t he be worried about his impending doom? His partner saw him drinking with another woman here. Why was he still in the mood to give me such a huge tip?”
Tyler sat in a car that drove him back to the hotel. He didn’t see Rachel when he returned to his room.
He removed his jacket and went knocking on her door.
No one answered.

Tyler glanced at his watch and saw that it had been one hour and 40 minutes since Rachel left the bar. She couldn’t have fallen asleep so quickly.
He pulled out his phone and gave Rachel a call.
No one answered the call.
Tyler texted her. [If you don’t open the door, I’ll have to go to the receptionist to tell them that someone fainted in the room.]
The moment he sent the text, the door was opened from the inside.
Rachel glared at Tyler. “You’re sick in the head.”
Tyler was completely unaffected by her jibe and chuckled. “Yes, I am sick and you’re the only medicine that can cure me.”
