Tyler had truly been shaken by Rachel’s actions just now. He had always known she was bold and meticulous, but she usually seemed so calm. He never imagined she would one day dare to fire a gun.
And where had she learned to shoot like that?
That was something worth thinking about.
But now wasn’t the time to ask. She needed space to calm her nerves.
Rachel shook her head, her voice stiff and mechanical. “I-I’m fine. Did you get Anne out?”
“She’s safe. Everyone’s safe. You did well. But next time, you can’t take such a risk. Do you realize how dangerous that was?”
He didn’t want Rachel’s hands ever touching something as cold and lifeless as a gun.
Tyler pulled her into his arms, patting her back gently like he was soothing a child.
At that moment, a police officer approached Rachel. “Miss, have you worked with us before, or are you in law
enforcement?”
Tyler knew Rachel wasn’t in any state to answer, so he stepped in.
“No. She’s just a civilian. And she’s terrified right now. If you have questions, can we wait until she’s calmer?
I’ll bring her to the station myself.”
“Of course, no problem. Honestly, we should be thanking her. If she hadn’t acted when she did, someone might
have died, and we’d never be able to answer for that.”
Tyler just nodded.
Yale hurried over at that moment. “Mr. Hunt!”
“Take Anne to the hospital. I’m taking Rachel back to the hotel.”
“Yes, sir.”
Tyler started guiding Rachel away, but Anne suddenly called out to him.
“Tyler, are you just going to leave me like this?”

He answered calmly, “I’m not leaving you unattended. I already told Yale to take you to the hospital.”

Anne pouted, her voice breaking with helplessness and sorrow. “But what I need is you! I need your company.”
Tyler replied, “Anne, you’re exaggerating. We’re only friends and business partners. I’m not obligated to stay
with you.”
Anne had just been shattered by Aaron’s words earlier, and now Tyler’s words cut her even deeper. Her heart
clenched painfully, leaving her dizzy and nearly gasping for air.
Yale stepped toward her when he saw her swaying on her feet. He reached out to steady her, but Anne shoved
him away.
“Don’t touch me!”
Yale looked troubled and tried again to reason with her.
“Ms. Charlton, you really shouldn’t be on your own right now. Please let me help you. If something happens,
you’ll only hurt yourself worse.”
Anne’s gaze stayed locked on Tyler. She was still waiting, desperate to see if he would show even the slightest
bit of concern for her.
Tyler merely gave Yale an order. “Yale. I don’t care how you do it, but get Anne to the hospital immediately. If
anything happens to her, consider your job gone.”.
Yale felt the weight of that order press down on him like a mountain.
“Yes, sir.”
