Chapter 748
Sawyer, seeing Rachel and Anne running off, shouted at his men.
“What are you standing there for? Go grab them!”
The group came to their senses and immediately took off after the two.
“On it!”
Rachel pulled Anne toward the crowd. If they could just make it into the mall, no matter how gutsy these guys were, they wouldn’t dare drag them off in public.
But Anne was already terrified out of her mind. On top of that, she was trying to keep up the pace. Her legs gave
out, and she collapsed to the ground.
Rachel turned around and tried to haul her up.
“Get up!”
Anne shook her head, dropped her gaze to her scraped knees, and gasped for air.
“I-I can’t run anymore. Y-You go without me.”
Rachel’s reply was firm. “There’s no way I’m leaving you to face them alone. Come on, lean on me. Just hang in there. I already sent Tyler my location. He’s on his way.”
The moment Anne heard that, a spark of hope lit up in her eyes. She nodded, clenched her jaw, and forced herself to stand despite the pain in her knee. Just as they were about to run again, someone yanked Anne back by the hair. Rachel’s grip slipped from Anne’s hand.
One of the thugs raised his hand and slapped Anne hard across the face.
“You wretch! Think you can run?”
Anne’s head snapped to the side. The thug slammed her to the ground without a second thought for the public
around them and tore at her clothes.
Rachel froze in shock. She then rushed forward to shove him off. He swung back and slammed her to the
ground, too.
“Well, look at that! You two stick together. That’s fine by me. You can both stay.”

Anne’s clothes were nearly torn apart when Rachel grabbed a handful of sand from the ground and threw it into her attacker’s eyes.
“My eyes!”
Rachel kicked another man square in the groin, buying herself just enough time to shove the one pinning Anne.
But no matter how hard she fought, she was no match for their strength.
Another thug grabbed Rachel by the hair and smashed her face into the ground. Sand filled her nose and mouth, and she couldn’t breathe. Panic set in as grains clogged her throat. The suffocating pressure was unbearable.
Anne saw that Rachel wasn’t moving and desperately tried to pry the man’s hand off her.
