Chapter 758
“That’s us.”
“We need you to come with us to the police station and cooperate with us in our investigations.”
Rachel stood stunned, clearly still confused about the situation.
“Why are we the ones being investigated? Don’t you know clearly what happened at that time? The three of them harassed us and even wanted to force themselves on me and my friend!”
Rachel tried to be as objective as possible, knowing that her accusations were highly sensitive no matter who they targeted. Recounting the situation was equally traumatic for her.
But she was more rational than that. Given what she knew of those three hooligans, if she didn’t make it clear what she faced back then, they might end up blaming the victim for their wrongdoing.
The policemen relayed what the three men said to Rachel. “They said that you two seduced them.”
Anne immediately became agitated.
“That’s nonsense! When did I seduce them? I was taking a stroll along the beach, and they came harassing me in the first place! I rejected them, and they started getting violent with me. The policemen exchanged glances.
“You’re putting us on the spot. If you accuse the three men of threatening the stall owners, you need to have evidence for that. If you don’t, we can’t convict them of it.
“What do you mean by evidence? I’m a witness! I heard it for myself that someone called Sawyer said that he knows someone from the police station.”
“Look. You’re a victim, and while we can take your statement as the basis, your words don’t suffice as direct evidence. No one knows if you’re making up things to slander them over a personal grudge.”
Anne felt like she was going to explode at any moment.

“I’m not slandering them! They said so in my face!” she yelled, her face flushed with anger.
“Do you have any proof? I mean, concrete proof, or if they told you the name of their relative or someone in the police station.”
Anne had completely lost it. “What else do you want me to say? I’ve already made it clear that he said it himself!
“I
