Sawyer grinned sardonically, “Is that a joke? Do you think you’ll be allowed to post anything about this place in the public sphere? Are you ignorant or naive?”

Rachel’s gaze swept across everyone, including Jeremy and the two policemen who brought them here.

All of them looked dismissive, as though this matter at hand was so trivial, there was no need for them to conduct any investigation whatsoever.

So this was how they handled matters. Rachel didn’t dare think about how insecure or unsafe the residents here felt to live under the oppression of power and influence without any notion of justice.

At that moment, Tyler spoke up.

“I’d like to see if I can post this video out there.” He turned to Rachel. “Film them and I’ll post it. I’ll see how far these people can go to subvert justice.”

Jeremy’s aged yet sharp eyes landed on Tyler.

Thus far, he had seen his fair share of people in his rather long life. This man before him exuded an imposing aura he had never felt before. Throughout his career, this was the first time he felt this threatened.

He didn’t immediately refute Tyler’s words. Instead, he turned toward Sawyer and pulled him aside.

“How much do you know about this man? I’m telling you, you’d better come clean! I don’t want you doing me in because of one of your filthy actions.”

Jeremy’s attitude took a 180–degree turn.

The smug look on Sawyer’s face froze.

“J–Jeremy, what do you mean by that? He’s just some foreigner. What’s there to be worried about? No matter how impressive he is, that has nothing to do with us. He won’t be able to do anything to us!”

Jeremy said solemnly, “And how do you know that? What if he has his connections? What are you going to do about that?”

Sawyer was stunned, but he quickly denied Jeremy’s fears.

“Jeremy, what’s going on? I’ve never seen you so fickle about dealing with things. Look, it’s impossible. Would he wait till now to speak up if he’s really that powerful?”

Jeremy’s doubts were quelled by Sawyer’s words.

That was true. This place was his territory. Would a foreigner have more say than he did here?

Even so, Jeremy still felt uneasy.

However, things have come to this point. He couldn’t beat a hasty retreat now.

“Alright, hurry up and get this matter settled. I have something else to attend to tonight.”
