Just then, Jeremy received a call. His brows furrowed at the name of the incoming caller.

He instructed the two policemen, “Do whatever you should do. Most importantly, get this thing settled.”

“Yes, sir.”

Jeremy left with his phone in hand while the two policemen flipped through their written statements and submitted evidence.

“Now that we’ve dealt with everything, since you don’t have any concrete evidence whatsoever, we can only drop this case. If you insist on suing the other party, you either produce new evidence or we’ll have to detain you if you continue causing trouble here.”

He flung a document in their way.

“Sign this and you can go.”

Yale stepped forward and handed a file to Tyler. “Mr. Hunt, this is what you asked for.”

A smile stretched across Tyler’s face as he lifted the file in his hand. “Who said we don’t have evidence? If you can’t punish this man in accordance with the law, we have no choice but to appeal to the courts.”

With that, Tyler’s eyes narrowed dangerously, glinting in warning.

“But it’s too late for you to turn back now. Everyone already knows about this, and you might just lose your job tomorrow.”

The policemen exchanged glances before bursting out in laughter.

“Hey, do you have any idea what you just said? Sir, if you insist on being like this, you’re leaving us with no choice but to be merciless.”

“Yeah! We gave you a way out, but you’re not showing us any respect. How could you be so arrogant when we’re trying to be nice?”

Tyler calmly lit up a cigarette and started puffing away at it. “Don’t be anxious. You’ll know soon enough. Sawyer thought this man must be out of his mind. He put his hands on his hips and sneered, “Fine! I’ll see how long you three can continue being this arrogant. You’re doomed to stay here for the night!”

Anne started to get worried about how things seemed to be going. She didn’t want to stay the night at the police station. She had never stayed overnight at a place like this before.

It was as bad as killing her!
