Chapter 768
Very soon, the three of them were all detained.
It was time for Jeremy to clean up his brother–in–law’s mess. He smiled ingratiatingly as he approached Tyler.
“Mr. Hunt, I was blind to not have recognized you earlier. I didn’t know your father, Mr. Lewis, was a military veteran. I’m truly sorry. I’m at fault for spoiling my brother, and I’ve realized how severe the problem is. I guarantee you, this will never happen again in the future.”
Tyler only wanted to stand up for Rachel. Blowing the matter up will only be a lose–lose situation for both parties.
Plus, they were in another’s territory right now. It wasn’t their place to go overboard.
Tyler rubbed his nose bridge. “How can I be sure that you won’t release him after we leave? Whatever you say goes as to how long he remains in there, after all.”
“Don’t you worry about that. Things have blown up, and I won’t be that foolish. I know what is important and what isn’t,” Jeremy assured.
Tyler placed the file back on the table. “Mr. Chase, this document contains records of all his wrongdoing as well as yours. You know very well what you’ve done over the years, but I don’t wish to meddle in your affairs. I just have one request.”
Upon realizing that there was a sliver of hope that Tyler wouldn’t pursue the matter further, Jeremy immediately said, “Please tell me what it is!”
“It’s very simple,” Tyler said. “Make him clean up his own mess and make it up to all his victims.”
Jeremy nodded. “No problem! I’ll do as you say.”
Tyler turned around to Rachel and Anne. “Let’s head back.”
Jeremy walked Tyler and the two ladies back to their car before returning to the police station.
The two policemen barely recovered from their shock at the turn of events.
“Mr. Chase, who exactly was that man? Sawyer was right. Isn’t he just a foreigner? Can his influence really stretch all the way here?”
Jeremy smiled self–derisively as he looked in the direction Tyler had left.
“Indeed, he can’t do anything to me. If his father sets his mind on it, though, he can make me lose my job in a matter of seconds. Do you think you’ll be spared?”
The two policemen were stunned speechless.
Long after Tyler, Rachel, and Anne got into the car, Anne finally recovered from her shock.
She asked, “What exactly happened? Tyler, what did Jeremy Chase mean when he mentioned your father?”
“Nothing. Just know that the matter is settled.”
