Chapter 776

Anne was frightened, too. In the first place, she was terrified of the notion of being in jail or even going into the police station.
When Tyler spoke of calling the police, her knees went weak.
She immediately grabbed the hem of his shirt with trembling hands and begged, “Tyler, I’m begging you! I foolishly listened to Sheryn, but I really meant no harm! I didn’t want to harm Ms. Lloyd. I was blinded by Sheryn!”
Tyler raised a hand, clearly all out of patience to hear more from her.
“That’s quite enough. Anne Charlton, you know better than anyone else what you truly think.”
They were all adults–there was no need for some things to be so blatantly made clear.
Anne knew full well that she had come with an ulterior motive. She also knew that Tyler liked Rachel, and that she would never win.
Humans were wicked in that way, refusing to let others have what they couldn’t have.
Very soon, two policemen rushed over. Amazingly, it was the same two policemen who dealt with Sawyer yesterday.
They were stunned to see Tyler, Rachel, and Anne again today.
They had heard about Tyler from Jeremy yesterday and knew that he wasn’t someone they could afford to offend. They barely heaved a sigh of relief over keeping their jobs and the fact that Tyler wasn’t a local here.
Yet here they were, bumping into Tyler again.
They instinctively turned around to run, but Tyler called out to them. “Did you two not receive my call?” The two were forced to stop in their tracks, chuckling awkwardly as they turned to face Tyler.
“You called the police? Cough, cough… Is it about these two ladies?”
The policemen were keen enough to realize that Tyler couldn’t have called them on the woman next to him. They could tell since last night that there was something between Rachel and Tyler. It made no sense that he would call the police on his own girlfriend.
Anne was so frightened that she took a few steps back and waved her hands, her face pale as a sheet. “I had nothing to do with this! You got the wrong person…”
“We’ll find out whether we got the wrong person after we investigate the case.”
With that, they cuffed Anne and Sheryn.
As she was dragged away, Sheryn yelled at Tyler, “Tyler, you’re…you’re heartless! My mom will never spare you for doing this to me! I’m her only daughter. If anything happens to me, my mom will kill herself! You’ll live in guilt forever!”

Tyler remained silent and didn’t even bother looking at her.
After they were both taken away, Rachel turned to look at him and held his hand.
