Rachel pushed William away proudly. She didn’t even spare him another glance.

William’s anger burned hotter as he watched her leave, but he could do nothing. He knew that even if he chased after her, it would be pointless.

Rachel took a few steps before stopping, then turned back and said to him, “William, if you don’t want me to hate you, then keep this matter buried inside you.”

Back at the apartment, Wanda was drying Ray’s fur when she heard the door. Ray immediately broke free from Wanda’s hands and bolted toward Rachel.

Rachel instinctively crouched down to catch him.

“Easy there, slow down! You nearly knocked me over.”

She laughed as she tried to dodge him, but Ray still bumped into her shin with enough force to make her stumble. He didn’t care at all. His paws landed on her knees, and his wet nose rubbed insistently against the back of her hand. His eyes sparkled as he panted happily.

Rachel could only rub his head helplessly.

“Go on, let Wanda finish drying you off before you cling to me again.”

Ray pranced away playfully and ran back to Wanda, who chuckled as she continued to towel off his still–damp

fur.

“This dog is really something. Mr. Hunt has had him for years, and we’ve never seen him act like this with anyone. You haven’t even been here that long, but Ray just adores you.”

Rachel smiled. “Maybe we’re just meant to be. Sometimes with pets, it’s all about the bond at first sight. I used to have a dog overseas, too. Such a sweet one. But she’s still there, and I haven’t had time to bring her over.”

At that, Wanda immediately said, “Then have someone bring her here! You know you can fly pets in now. I can help take care of her.”

Rachel’s eyes lit up in surprise. “Really, Wanda? Thank you so much! I’ll talk it over with Tyler later.‘

Rachel still had other matters to handle, so after a few words with Wanda, she went upstairs.

Once in her room, she immediately called Jerry.

“Write up a motion to withdraw the lawsuit right now and file it. I want Yvette released.”

Jerry was stunned.

“What did you just say? You want her released? Are you kidding me? Yvette nearly killed you before. Letting her out is like unleashing a wild beast!”

“Just do as I say. Let her out. I’ll explain later.”

Rachel glanced at her watch. She was worried that Tyler might come back soon and overhear her conversation
