“You should know what you’ve done. You don’t need me to speak any further,” Tyler finished.
Yvette looked as though she was struck by lightning, her face devoid of all color. She almost lost her balance and had to grab a chair by her side to keep herself steady.
She looked pitifully at Rachel.
“My dear sister, are you really going to leave me in the lurch? I’m your sister! Even though we have different mothers, we share the same father. You can’t ruin the rest of my life like this.”
Rachel’s expressionless face turned toward Yvette.
“Yvette Lloyd, was I the one who ruined your life? You made all those choices yourself. Did I have a hand in any of those choices? Did I make you hire a hitman to murder me, or falsify the company accounts and misappropriate funds? Think about it. Did I make you do any of the above?”
Rachel flung Yvette’s hand away coldly, not showing her any mercy.
Then, Rachel turned to look at everyone at the scene.
“Everyone here is my dad’s relatives and friends, some of whom I look up to as elders. I, Rachel Lloyd, swear that I’ve done nothing to let this family down. I’ve done my part for all of them, including Yvette, who tried time and time again to hurt me. I’ve given her a chance, too.
“I promised my father that I’d drop charges and have Yvette released, and I’ve fulfilled that promise. But what did she do? She repaid my kindness with evil. She never thought of me as her sister who did everything for her. I’ll never change my mind, no matter what all of you think of me.”
“Rachel, don’t say that! We might not have spent much time with your family over the years, but we’ve seen for ourselves how much you’ve sacrificed for this family. To be honest, I thought it was very unfair of your grandfather to chase you out when he took Yvette back in back then.”
“Absolutely. It’s only right to have affection for the child you raised for so many years. How could you just chase her out just like that?”
“So what if Yvette was his biological granddaughter? Has she done anything for the Lloyd family?”
“Exactly. All she knows how to do is spend tons of money. I visited their place once and saw her room filled with luxury goods.”
“Yes, Rachel. We stand behind you. You’ve done everything you could for her, so please stop condoning her in consideration of our opinions.”
Rachel’s eyes lit up. She never expected her relatives to speak up for her like this.

Somehow, she felt touched by their words.
“Thank you, all of you.”

“We’re family. There’s no need to thank us for that. Rachel, I think we should just leave the company in your hands. Yvette doesn’t have what it takes to manage it.”
However, Rachel wasn’t the kind of person to get carried away by praise.
“We’ll talk about that next time. Thank you so much for taking the time to attend my dad’s funeral.”
