“It’s all arranged, and I got the information you wanted. But whether you can actually convince him to come, that’s on you.”
Mark’s expression grew uneasy.
“You should know, this doctor is infamous for his temper. On top of that, a few years back, a medical accident left him deeply traumatized. He still hasn’t recovered. He’s always believed that if it hadn’t been for his mistake, that patient wouldn’t have died.”
Rachel had already read a bit about the case before she came.
The doctor had performed countless successful surgeries without issue. But five years ago, something happened that scarred him for life.
During one procedure, his assistant, a young and inexperienced assistant doctor, handed him low- concentration heparin instead of saline solution. The doctor glanced at the label, but failed to notice that the assistant had given him the wrong tray.
Once the drug was injected, the patient’s blood–clotting function suddenly went haywire.
The doctor stopped the injection immediately and tried to resuscitate, but they had already missed the critical period. Complications set in, and the patient didn’t make it.
That incident became the doctor’s lifelong burden.
Mark’s expression darkened.
“You need to be mentally prepared. Over the years, his family has brought in countless specialists, including psychiatrists and medications. None of it worked. If anything, his condition has only gotten worse.”
Rachel knew this wouldn’t be easy. But for Cecilia, this was the only shot.
She had to try.
“Alright. Let’s head back to the hotel. We can talk on the way.”
“Okay.”
Rachel turned around, about to say something to Yale and Jerry, when she saw them locked in a heated argument. Their faces were flushed red.
She knew Jerry’s personality. He was stubborn to the bone, never backing down, especially given how young he was.

Rachel glanced awkwardly at Mark.
“Sorry, let me handle this.”
She walked over and tugged Jerry aside. She lowered her voice.
“Do you even realize where we are? This is a public place! What are you two doing, yelling here?”
The moment Jerry saw Rachel, his head hung low. “Sorry, Rachel.”
Rachel glanced at Yale. “It’s not that big of a deal. Let’s go.
That shut them up, and they quietly followed her into the car.
Once inside, Mark spoke again. This time, he sounded troubled.
