When Rachel heard that, she thought back to the last time Cecilia had kept reassuring her, saying she was fine, that she had already made peace with everything.
But when it came to life and death, who could really make peace with it?
The only solution now was to move quickly and make sure this treatment went through. Rachel was willing to do anything as long as Cecilia could recover.
“I’ll call her later to calm her down, but I really need you to look after her more on your side. I can’t be in two places at once right now,” Rachel said.
She always believed she could handle things on her own, especially when problems piled up. But this time, it felt like the weight of everything had been dropped right onto her shoulders.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle things here. You just focus on what’s in front of you,” Tyler said firmly.
As long as he covered her back, Rachel wouldn’t have to worry about what was happening over there.
He wanted to talk to her a little longer, but when he glanced at his watch, it really was late.
“Get some rest. And don’t push yourself too hard with Elias. If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll send someone to step in.”
He knew how she was always chasing perfection, and he was worried that she was putting too much pressure on herself.
Only then did they finally hang up.
Rachel lay down, her mind still racing with ways to help Cecilia, until she drifted off in a daze.
She set her alarm for half past seven the next morning. Still half–asleep, she glanced at the time, freshened up, and got ready to head to the main company.
She didn’t tell Yale or Jerry. This was something she had to face herself. Bringing more people along wouldn’t help.
As she stepped out of the hotel, she was surprised to see a familiar car waiting. The window rolled down, revealing Mark’s handsome face and mischievous smile.
He tapped on the passenger seat.
“Hop in, Rach. Time for you to try out my new ride.”
Rachel was a little surprised. “What are you doing here?”
Mark twirled his car keys. The morning sunlight shone over his hair, giving him that carefree, cocky

air.
“I figured someone was heading to the main company this morning to turn herself in. Thought I’d volunteer as your chauffeur.”
He paused before reaching for a bag on the seat next to him.
“But first things first. If you’re going to confess to your crimes, you’d better have something in your stomach.”
Rachel took it carefully. When she looked inside, she smiled. It was her favorite donut.
“From that same place, right? But don’t you have to line up early in the morning just to get these?”
Mark snorted. “Do you really think I’d wait in line myself?”
Rachel remembered his old tricks and smiled wryly.
