“I’ll be fine. Just do as I say,” Rachel said.

Jerry had never disobeyed Rachel’s command, and it was the same this time round.

Before leaving with Elias, he requested of Tyler, “Mr. Hunt, please take good care of Rachel.”

“Don’t worry.” Tyler grabbed Rachel’s hand and brought Yale to another car.

A sombre mood enveloped the Zieglers‘ residence, candles surrounding Steven’s photo. Rachel changed into a black dress, and Tyler put on a black suit. Both of them stood at the door of the funeral hall with a bouquet of white chrysanthemums in hand.

Someone inside spotted Rachel and Tyler and pointed at them angrily.

“The nerve of you two to come!”

The man was Miguel Ziegler, Steven’s nephew. His eyes were bloodshot, and his voice was dripping with fury. “Mr. Ziegler was angered to death by you two! If you two hadn’t sent Howard to jail, he wouldn’t have gotten a stroke and died!”

All the relatives in the Ziegler family surrounded him, pointing and hurling insults at them.

“The nerve of the murderer and his accomplice to come and pay their respects! Scram! We don’t

welcome you one bit. You’re the ones who caused Mr. Ziegler’s death. How dare you come here, putting on an act?”

Rachel calmly placed the bouquet on a table and bowed deeply at Steven’s portrait.

She straightened her back and addressed them calmly.

“We understand your sorrow, but please don’t be indiscriminate in your judgment. Howard abducted and deliberately tried to hurt us twice. The first time he did so, his father pulled many strings to prevent him from being jailed. He even bribed a fellow victim, Sheryn Lyons, to change her

testimony.

“We didn’t count all these against him, or he wouldn’t have had the chance to follow us all the way overseas and kidnap us a second time.”

Tyler stepped forward, his dark gaze sweeping across everyone who was looking agitatedly at them.

He said with authority, “I have the police report with me. You can check through it if you have any doubts. Howard was charged with kidnapping, deliberately inflicting injury on others, and instigating false testimony. There is solid proof to convict him for multiple charges, and that’s not something we can plot by our own efforts.”
