Tyler furrowed his brows. He looked at William, his voice low.
“What’s going on?”
William leaned back and said, “Nothing. It’s very simple. He’s worried about you, but can’t bring himself to call you. He knew you were back and asked me to call you here instead.”
“Since when did I say that? Stop talking nonsense!” Thomas barked. He suddenly sat up on the bed, frightening both William and Tyler.
“Grandpa!” William jumped from the chair. “Can you stop scaring us?”
Thomas didn’t look too good, but he was clearly in better spirits. Tyler wondered if that was a good thing or not.
Thomas flung a pillow at William. “Who asked you to say that? When was I worried about him? He’s not a child! What could happen to him?”
William caught the pillow. “Grandpa, you’re denying it now, but who was the one who kept asking for Tyler and wondering why he went overseas and when he’d be back? Who was worried that something bad might happen to him?”

Tyler looked incisively at William, his low voice filled with threat. “That’s not something you should be concerned with.”
William instinctively shrank back at Tyler’s tone and mumbled under his breath, “It was just a passing question. Why so agitated?”
Tyler ignored William. Instead, he turned to ask Thomas, “How do you feel right now?”
Seeing Tyler showing concern for him, Thomas immediately turned to answer, “I’m quite fine, just a little dizzy and breathless sometimes.”
William scoffed at Thomas‘ reaction. The old man was getting more and more shameless with age.

He turned to leave, but Thomas called out to him to stop him.
“I already have one foot in the grave. Can’t you just spend more time with me? Cough, cough…”
Thomas started coughing violently.
William hurriedly patted his back to soothe him. “The doctor told you not to get so agitated and to talk calmly. Tyler might really have something to go to.”
Unlike before, Tyler didn’t just walk away. Instead, he returned to Thomas‘ side, grabbed a chair,
