Chapter 892
“There’s too much work in progress. Many people require decisions from me. If I don’t give feedback, nothing can move forward,” Tyler explained.
Rachel worked in this field herself, so she understood exactly what Tyler meant. With the whole company depending on his sign–off, and given the company’s current situation, there wasn’t much leeway.
She pulled out the chair across from him and sat down suddenly.
“Put some of this on my plate. It’s still early. I can help.”
“No. You need to rest. I can handle it.”
Tyler had done some research online earlier and knew the most important thing for Rachel right now was rest. Nothing was more important than her rest, especially now that she was pregnant and her body was already fragile.
Seeing the way Tyler sounded, Rachel felt he intended for her to devote herself entirely to being a pregnant woman from now on.
She slammed her hand on the documents.
“Tyler, listen. Even if I’m pregnant, you can’t take away my freedom to act. I’ll do what I want, including working. After I give birth, I’ll go back to work. I’m not going to be just a housewife.”
That had always been who she was. Caring for children full time was never her identity. She knew she wasn’t that kind of person.
Tyler pulled her in and sat her on his lap. His warm fingers brushed through her hair.
“You think I want you stuck at home as a housewife? Rachel, from the first time I saw you, I could tell you were
ambitious.”
He had never intended to cage her.
Hearing that, Rachel relaxed a little. She had worried Tyler might be like so many men, expecting a woman to give up her life after having kids, to lose herself in childcare and household chores until she no longer recognized herself.
That fear wasn’t baseless. William had once argued the same with her and had insisted she stay home and have children, unlike Tyler.
They had fought about it many times, but both sides never compromised.
In the end, they agreed not to have kids. Later on, it turned out William couldn’t have children anyway.
Due to this, they fought several times more.
Tyler looked at her and pinched her cheek gently. His voice was soft and gentle.
“There’s only one thing I ask. Whatever you do, look after your health first.”
